And that is what i do not want to see.well i certainly won't rush content in ph4 anyways
if they dont save progress; i'll just roll my eyes and whine a bit, then carry on
but i'm 99% sure progress and all that will carry over. I think at most there might be a day maintenance after ph4, then game launch.
That would basically mean wipe, which in normal case wont happen
This point might actually benefit from clarification. Although I my self won't be creating a new character.
If they wipe, wipe, logically will be wipe, only some F2P open beta are carried over. Hard to say for this one, i join this thread because I feel that a P2P game like this do not bring open beta data progression over to launch(unless you can name me one mmorpg that is not F2P does that).
There no indication of saying "data progression" are brought over, only says Character Created, thus the only data that is brought over is your lvl 1 starting character are brought over. Is more like those akin to Name Booking. :P
Of course it will be great if it did transfer our progression but I read it very much the way it is read. Only character data and not data progression that will be transfer over to launch.
It's the same as the end of Tera's open beta, it was like some early access, they carried everything from here to the final release.
Do they have an early access as well? (Aside from Open Beta, like after open beta, and before launch, were there?)
For this FFXIV:ARR if nothing goes wrong and they feel like it they will open up an early access before launch date, which is after Open beta. Thus I do not see they are transfering data progress from Open Beta.
In tera i think it was different in EU and NA. in NA i think your progress was saved. in EU not. Those that pre-order had 2-3 days early access.
i think it was same for Aion, though i didnt play beta there.
i think it's standard practice for all games, not just f2p.
for some games they wipe after beta, and you dont keep char or anything. Sometimes you get early access to create characters; it was like that in Tera too. It was like a week or 2 downtime after beta, so you had early access to char creation first, and then access to game 2-3days before launch.
And i think they want to avoid wipe in OB, as that WILL annoy some people, and might make them quit, even though people should be aware it's a possibility; And im sure SE wanna keep as many players as possible![]()

Its standard to wipe after beta, just very few games offered to save progress from beta to release version. And those ppl who quit cause their progress gets wiped after beta are those ppl i don't want to see in the game anyway. In tera i think it was different in EU and NA. in NA i think your progress was saved. in EU not. You shouldn't compare early access with beta, its 2 different things.
Oh? i cant remember playing any betas where they wiped after, and i played a few.Its standard to wipe after beta, just very few games offered to save progress from beta to release version. I wasnt making that comparisoni just answered a question, if there was early access.
Phase 4 will be an open Beta, it's not an anticipated access to the game. So I think they will save ONLY Names and Characters' aspect.
