The thing is, SE has stated in the lore of the race that lalafell don't seem to physically age appearance wise - I refer to the main FFXIV website here:
So there you have it - the lalafell are meant to look like children even when they're adults and hence do not show physical signs of aging (by the same token, I presume miqo'te don't seem to physically age either as far as appearance goes, as there are no 'elderly' miqo'te ever seen, only young adults.).
it must hurt for lalafell women to give birth...
"Thy life is a river to bear rapture and sorrow
To listen to suffer to entrust until tomorrow
In one fleeting moment, from the land doth life flow
Yet in one fleeting moment for the new leaf doth grow"
Elderly Miqo'te? Can you envision a Miqo'te (male or female) with fine lines and wrinkles? Just me trying to imagine it gives me frightening images in my head. But, if SE were to add them, they'd probably make them look well off enough somehow.
I quite agree with this. Adds flavor to the world. That and the young mithra girls were so damned cute in XI!~ Need a miqo'te equivalent

Instead of making more models for children they should just remove children from the game. Little brats at the orphanage are nothing but trouble anyways.

Everyone was born fully grown except for the few Hyur kids you sometimes see.
There's also elezen children in the game as well, such as that little brat Nicoliaux in the garden next to the Carpenter's Guild in Gridania who likes playing 'scary' pranks on adventurers (apparently one of his jokes caused a roegaydn MRD npc to wet himself from fear and then slip in his resultant 'puddle' and knock himself out).
But I guess the lack of child npcs of other races was just another example of the the original game being mostly still a 'work-in-progress' when it was launched - Tanaka probably planned to add extra npcs but never actually did, hence the lack of roegaydn, lalafell and miqo'te kids around.
In my fanfiction children do appear. I explain it that Lalafells, being smaller, reach adult size faster, but remain children mentally and the only way you can tell that they are children is the fact that they're carrying around child things like puk wings around their necks and giggling and playing hopscotch and going to school. The thing is, SE has stated in the lore of the race that lalafell don't seem to physically age appearance wise - I refer to the main FFXIV website here:
