Devs: Do you have plans to reset the forums in the future?

I've been banned from the WOW forums about 6 times so far.

They keep restoring my account every time they do their "please come back and play WOW, we gave you a free week" campaign.

Every time, I go on the WOW forums and post my nudes for giggles.

It's glorious.

Every MMO community has it's faults but this is specifically the FFXIV community. They will chastise other FF fans simply because they play or enjoyed SE's other FF MMO, don't even question the integrity. Alerith has a point, if SE unbans people they didn't want around (hence banning in the first place) other companies may as well unban everyone who hacked or cheated "for a good cause" and may as well release everyone from jail since it's a form of punishment for breaking the rules and everyone deserves a second chance.

I get what you're trying to say but SE never did that for XI when they released CoP and ToAU (game changers.) They really shouldn't unban people just because the game is getting relaunched or it pretty much undermines the whole reason for having rules in the first place and having enforcers.

For starters because SE did it for the re-release of a brand new game remade makes no sense why every other company should do this or that, that argument literally has no grounds whatsoever in this topic. Secondary it is completely different from XI because it is not an expansion it is not a continuation of a the same game in that manner. It is game that is rebuilt from the ground up forums that is going to follow suit and very likely as I previously stated going to have a new user agreement or a rehashed version of the previous.

Also why say no to my OG post? Let's break it down a little further and say what harm would it do? It could be beneficial and a good lesson learned for some where their input may be helpful, worst case scenario they make a silly or stupid comment or rage or do something again and get banned in the first week. It doesn't effect you negatively in anyways unless you happen to read the trash post and then that costs you all of 10 seconds.

Honestly I got banned for calling someone a retard, it was a time ban I accepted it I made an error and let my temper get the best of me, it happens. A few days later when I get an email stating that my account has now been permanently banned for repeating the same issue with a date stamp but no further explanation I was at a loss. I hadn't been on and had no way to repeat any issue yet I get banned for no reason and when I email them and call them they tell me that they don't know any specifics and its all handled at corporate in Japan. They literally would not give me any definitive reason why I was banned. I feel cheated because I received no other warning prior and literally have seen people say things 100 time worse and they are still posting til this day.

I am a Legacy member I love the game and still want to be able to have a say in things an opinion. I feel my lesson has been learned twice over just keep calm it's just a forum. If things get heated or you get annoyed take a step back and reply later if at all. I don't think it's too much to ask considering I will remain a loyal fan though I guess I can always go the troll route and buy a second copy of the game to regain forum access but I don't liked being lumped together with gifthorse or that lot in general.

I think at this point that all that has been discussed and the why of it has been stated with similar or different opinions. Hopefully we can hear a DEV response on this and their plans. Just an acknowledgment of the topic and hopefully their plans on this and with the new forums in general. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on the topic whether you agree or disagree.

It would be really a bad idea to unbann them all, cause they would do same stupid shit again. The Idea to watch them all is dumb, it's just waste of time. Nobody did just get banned right away so they all had their 2nd and 3rd chance (you always get temp banned first) they didnt learn so they are banned and should not come back.

The person in question already got their warning/temp ban, and then got a permanent ban after the temp one expired despite having done nothing.

Think of it in a different scenario... if guys who did real and got sent to jail, then the world was destroyed but the prisoners survived. Would you let them out??? I would say NO THX.

They got banned for a reason, there should of been a clear message stating why they received the ban. If the details on the ban is wrong you take it up with the SE customer support and figure out what was the actual cause. Just because you don't want to take those extra steps and keep on pushing there asking to release all the permenant ban players would be a dumb move by SE imo. Your brother might of been banned wrongfully but there are others that honestly deserved to get the permenant ban, releasing them back onto the forums wouldn't help anyone.

How about if you went to jail for 1 years for petty theft, and then when you got out, you got sent back for a life term because the judge reconsidered?

Ya i did, and the topic is about to unbann everybody and this would be dumb. And just cause the banned person say he didn't do anything it doesn't means he it was like that. Cause banned ppl always say that...

There might maybe a few cases where ppl got banned cause of mistakes but that is no reason to unbann everybody...
