    Not everything is addressable by "awful engine". Having too many effects on the screen starts to create confusion in what you are fighting and how you are fighting it. And I'm pretty sure if the game put in 30 to 60 sec attack animations there would be no end to the complaints, no matter how flashy it is.

    I'm sure there will be effects settings so that in a large # party you'll be able to scale how many effects you see going off at one time, or maybe even just your own. Just a guess though.

    This. They need to slow down the damn game x.x It doesn't need to be to a crawl, but the pacing for the 1.23 battle system was more then fine.

    Nothing is wrong with having flashy flashiness. However sometimes you can't distinguish what is a magic spell, to a regular ability.

    Sometimes I wonder how some of these idiots call their self FF fans. People didn't say omnislash was awesome cause it was boring etc I really think some people want this game to be 1.0 with all the animations and effects to be the same like it was @ launch.

    cause you know omnislash, lionheart, knights of the round, bahamut, no i dont recall any ff that have flashy movies like barrets satellite beam or Irvine pulse ammo. Or Quistis's seizure degenerator. Nope no flashy abilities to be found in any other ff.
