How valuable is the hardcore opinion?

It's interesting the way schools of thought change. We have the same couple hundred MMO addicts here on the boards, and we once heard cries of "make FFXIV just like FFXI!" We successfully vanquished that school of thought but now the wounded animal has just changed from crying "FFXI" to "hardcore". Now Final Fantasy XIV isn't "hardcore" enough all of a sudden. ..Isn't it strange that no one said this in the beginning? It's just the desperate adaptive strategy of a disappointed FFXI veteran clinging to whatever form of life it can.

Let's see, there are about 30,000 FFXIV players. This is "hardcore" players plus the rest of us. And then... there are the OTHER FFXIV players.. The ones that don't view topics on the forums and don't answer player's polls... SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND other, fellow, FFXIV players, with a FFXIV DVD collecting dust somewhere in their house.

If Square Enix suddenly implemented all of your hardcore suggestions to appease you, they would bring in less than 10% of what it costs to run this game. Your demands are only good enough to run FFXIV in to the ground.

It's responding to the needs of millions of other people.. starting with 600,000 fellow FFXIV players.. that FFXIV is going to have a future. So when questioning the motivation of any forthcoming patch.. keep in mind who's bought the majority of FFXIV copies.. 600,000 people taking a silent stand. The day I see a "hardcore" forum thread with 600,000 views will be the day I give credence to the demands in that thread.

FFXIV is going to reward real hardcore players just as every MMO in existence does. But let's distinguish between real hardcore players and a bunch of FFXI veterans that suddenly changed their label so they could get what they want at the expense of at least 600,000 people.

I know right. It's bad enough such people exist at all, let alone in my general vicinity. *shudder*

How do you want the game better for everyone if everything i said you don't agree because you just want the game to be dam casual. i'm sorry but at least i'm the person who really think both ways make it in the middle and everyone would be happy.

Maybe if casual would meet in the middle we wont have this problem would we? anyways i think by now it pointless yoshi said himself they be two systems so you causal have to deal with it matter what you say. Same with hardcore who have to deal with most of everything being casual i'm a middle type of game i want to have both but it seem casual just want it to be casual lol.

I'm unsure of what OP is afraid of having to make threads as these, is he not a member of his self righteous majority of casual gamers? If so why fear the opinion of the many will be obscured by the

of online player base? Self-assurance should be left out of these boards. Especially how statistically the opinion of over 90% will be heard over the minority as you have come here to reassure yourself of. Here it is coming from and FFXI elitist veteran: there are more of you. Now that we've covered that maybe they can add XP/SP gain for finding a camp just to pamper your already risk free dying game.

By using the 90% to cry over the OP topic? there over 3-4 topics about this now. so i think you just help every hardcore players voice get cross SE.

Like said middle ground lol i don't want FFXI endgame and i don't want FFXIV casual even wow is more hardcore right now vs this game.

I'm pretty sick of these hardcore versus casual threads.
Somebody earlier said that the developers weren't responsible for the failure of this game, but the community was.
I didn't agree to that because developers are the the only ones who can implement new ideas and features into the game.
But seeing this schism in many threads on the forum he may be right in some way after all.
People are making it really hard for the developers to please everyone. And insulting each other when you don't agree, won't help this game or the developers in any way.

Let the developers do their thing until late summer. That's when they said most of the major updates will be finished. Then you can bitch about the game all you want.
But don't rant on the game's patch the second one of the first major patches is uploaded.
Have some fun and more importantly have patience.
For all you so called "hardcore" players: This wasn't the end-game, dungeon and raid content patch in the first place.
If you want to be "hardcore" that bad in the meantime.. Go kill a NM mob with a weathered sword and without armor or something, but don't make arguments with the people who are enjoying the current content of the game.

Hardcore or Casual, it doesn't matter. When it comes to the discussion of ideas, we need all of them. Who's to say what line of reasoning will lead to the next innovation. Discussion generates much more than what course the game should take. The hope is that through our discussion and debate, those who can affect change, the developers, can use our input not only as advice, but also as inspiration. More so, those here working to become developers can take inspiration as well. Our efforts are affecting not only FFXIV, but possibly future games as well.

What your question really asks is whether or not we should silence a portion of our community. The answer is no. Hardcore opinions and ideas are centered on their preferences, but so are the opinions and ideas of anyone. It is through the amalgam of all of these opinions that news ones can form.

With that said, there is nothing helpful in the bashing of others' ideas. Of course, I'm not so ideological as to ignore the fact that people will disagree vehemently with one another to the point where they can't see past their differences to reach a compromise. I just wish it wasn't so prevalent on these boards, especially considering the opportunity we have to affect real change in FFXIV. I only hope Yoshi-P and his team can see past the flamewars to salvage the gems hidden in the fire.

I wonder if there ever going to be other Poll they should make one seeing if players want Jumping and other such stuff.

Yeah, and its nice that the things we don't agree on we can legitimately talk about unlike 80% of this community.

I was informed not to long ago in a jump thread lol that a poll was taken not to long ago on Jump being implemented and the majority vote was "its not very important". Jump was even laughed out of the Closed Beta (phase II) testers forums back awhile ago too when i was testing; so i just find that topic hilariously useless.

I play on Selbina, I wanted to be reminded every day of the goblin trains in Valkrum O.o
