I can't imagine what this games would be like with all the new pple but I'm looking forward to it. ^_^ It'll be great to have a lot more pple playing than we had in 1.0. CAN NOT WAIT!.

SW:ToR and TERA were both on those lists at some point, as well as Aion. . . . All went f2p.
As much as I love TES lore, I'm not really optimistic for TES:O either.
As for recognition, if ARR is good, it will get it once it's live. I'd rather have it that way than hype first - disappoint later, like the abovementioned games.

I agree they need to advertise, but like some have said too early or too late is bad either way when doing pr. From me personally I say to start advertising around open beta since that's not too far from release. If SE advertises now ppl will say: hey that looks cool/interesting I wanna find out more, then they hit the brick wall and see they can't physically see the game in action they can only rely on videos old & new along with post, reviews etc not being able to play it first hand. Which is bad!
Not now, but in spring. The best time for TV PR would be at the open beta start.
I guess that the real marketing to show Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn to the world is not already started. There is still time, and the game has to be developed a little bit more. And most of all, if the game will have success, there won't be need of any marketing campaign, because people will know it.
i agree with the tv ads , just a small trailer with scenes from the end of an era- new beginning would be good already
, even tho its still to early for that i think
The hype from the trailer is working on youtube. Many fans of the franchise is saying this is what a real final fantasy should look like, and others saying they wish it wasn't online. The trailer on Youtube is doing its job. lol.
I think TV ads will do much better when the product is finished.
I hope SE does not get cheap on advertising... they never really done well in the west with TV adds.
They can probably pick up an extra half million subs + easy with a good advertising campaign but advertising is expensive not sure how much more SE is willing to risk on the game. Ver 1.0 and 2.0s Development cost have to be near astronomical levels at this point.
Personally I hope they spend good chunck on advertising will help the game immensely. SE needs to force people to look at this game on as many venues as possible. Sorta like how Blizz crams every WoW expansion down our throat by spamming adds on websites and tv.
Nah they done extremely well with this ad from 1997. It needs to be done again. Final Fantasy VII TV Commercial 1 and this Final Fantasy VII TV Commercial 2
No more singing and stuff please SE. I don't think the majority of your fans likes that.
I don't think ARR is considered a new game, its a re-launch so I would guess that keeps it off any "Best new game" listsHey there,
I've been reading some gaming news lately and with the new year all the gaming news sites reveal their "top games of 2013" or to be more specific.. "Top 10 upcoming MMOs of 2013" and many sites (read: almost all) don't even mention FFXIV:ARR. Is SE doing enough marketing? The Elder Scrolls Online is the most anticipated game in almost every "Top 10" list I've read and if it works out well for TES:O I'm afraid that it'll be the same story as with XI and WoW.
I would like to hear your opinions
1. Is SE doing enough?
2. What do you think is the best platform to make this game famous (YouTube advertisements, TV, etc..)
1) I think its pre-mature to start any adverstisement, especially when a release date hasn't been determined. They don't want to get people excited too early, and have that anticpation die down due to a lack of information for its release.
2) Everywhere I go on the web, 60% of the time I get an ad for Mists of Panderia... I would like to see SE do something on this scale for ARR.
