Yoshida thinks people won't play Tetra Master because there is no reward, but I think the reward in a game where you take your opponents cards are self-evident.Originally Posted by RPG Site interview

Yoshida: [Laughs] The problem with Card games and things like that is what you really need is - it can't be something you do by yourself, it has to be player battles. If that's the case, do you just play to play? What about rewards?
Those people want to play for rewards - a lot of people will be like, 'Why should I spend my time playing this mini-game when I can go into this dungeon and get some sweet gear?'
But then, on the other hand, if there's rewards and there's two players - one might lose on purpose so the other can win and get the rewards, which is obviously cheating... so, how do you cover these type of problems?
Conceiving and building a system that covers these kinds of bases is what is taking a long time with creating mini-games - as well as coming up with something perfect.
The whole cheating thing sounds like an actual problem, though. They would definitely need to find a way to stop people from purposely losing to level up their friend's tetra master cards or vice-versa.
To me this sounds like a bad idea because everyone would end up with a stacked deck from constantly leveling their cards without losing them. Granted, if the cards were tradable outside of a game people could still stack decks.Originally Posted by Punainen
They should combat this by making the reward for winning NOT be taking someone else's cards from them. Maybe if you win you should just win an expansion pack or something.
It's a tricky situation... no doubt.

fear the power of endurance and obtrusiveness.
Ewww that FF9 game gave me OCD nightmares.
agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sure Yoshi and the team have actually reached a solution to the cheating and stuff, like making player games just win/lose cards, an then official contests with random selected players where you can win prizes.
.........
...I challenge you to a children's card game.

Ah, but will facing north-by-northeast at 2:45 a.m. while the moon is a waning crescent result in a 27% increase in your chances to synthesize HQ mythril ingots!? That is real the question! ~Fernehalwes~
