Because its so much more fun camping a mob for hours at a time, killing the same mob over and over again just in the hope that in 1 of the 100 kills you the item you want will drop, right?

There are better ways to gain a sense of achievement other than repeatedly killing the same mob. Killing a boss 100 times is no harder than killing it once, it just more of a time sink. I'd rather move on to a new challenge.

If you log off after getting the equipment, what is the point in getting it in the first place. I always see getting new gear as a way of improving my character for the next thing I want to do, not as the final goal.

I'm not sure why people are saying these NMs have a near 100% drop rate, I soloed 3 NMs yesterday and didn't get any of their drops, and as a solo they took about 20-30 mins to kill. If you run around with an 8 person level 50 party killing midlevel NMs, then yeah, expect to get done fast, these are level 20-30 NMs, not end game.

The drop rates can be as low as 6-10% on some of these mobs. We fought Cactuar Jack roughly 22+ times in order to get two helmets. Prince of Pestilence was killed probably 10 times to see a Seer's Cowl. Kakaroon's Darkscale Mail we only got one of today, although we must have killed him at least 10 times.
The dodo NM only dropped around 2 shields in 20 kills, Slug NM took 5 kills for one shield.

So yes they do spawn fast but the drop rates are low. That is why the fast respawn is wonderful. The mobs have high hp and take a while to kill even for rank 50s, plus you have to compete for claims.

We had a wonderful time today and it was tons of fun. We did get a few items but it's gonna take a while to get everything we want. So I really don't get all this complaining, going by the mood on Palamecia and in my linkshells, the people love the new update. Good work Yoshi and the team at SE.
