Beta app is the best speculation.
Beta app is the best speculation.
My first guess is releasing a Road Map with dates for the beta testing schedule.... but then after shooting myself down on the possiblity of that reality... I have to agree with the majority of people here of the beta app.
However, I think the majority of us here don't even need to apply for the beta, so it seems kinda mean getting our hopes up for something we dont need lol.
Awesome letter by Yoshi-P and we wish the entire Dev Team a wonderful New Year as well.
I've stared very very very hard at the new artwork trying to figure it out and read the excellent speculations in this thread... yeah, I agree that Jan 7th might be another Live letter launching the benchmark. But what really intrigued me the most in that pic was why the snake was wearing a Paragon's Crown. No mistaking it.
Methinks its time for some very speculative feedback analysis:
- First, I think the crown represents us, the players, who are paragons because we are part of the guiding force in the rebirth of the game. The year of the snake generally represents good luck but actually because it is also the year of the Water Snake, there will be much wisdom and intelligence as well.
- Thus, perhaps Yoshi is counting on the benevolence of the year of the snake and our feedback to guide him and his team... perhaps his holding of the beloved Artemis bow shows that we could guide him in aiming for all the necessary targets he needs to hit to make ARR a phenomenal success.
- Plus, we guess he's shedding his old skin (version 1.0?) and coming out with guns-- no wait--bows and arrows blazing in 2.0.
- Next, the Fire Bomb keeping his coffee warm is a great touch... bombs are one of the most re-occuring mobs in the FF series. Totally represents that he and his team have completely tamed the "time bomb" that was 1.0 before it grew out of control and wreaked havoc on their honor.
- The baby chocobo maybe represents a part of the game that is still in its infancy stages but could evolve into something very dynamic and exciting...(remember the Chocobos with job classes?)
- Finally, the baby behemoth... dunno, but if he's holding Yoshi's arrows, he's important. I tentatively speculate that if the chocobo represents something in gameplay, then maybe the behemoth perhaps represents something in the storyline? Yoshi and his Team did say Gameplay, Graphics and Storylines were important to them for 2.0. (By the way, I totally NEED that behemoth armour for my personal Chocobo).
Meh... I've rambled and speculated enough (yeah I'm bored). Happy New Year again everyone... be well.

"After ten years, finally headed to Sharlayan... absolutely stoked"
The helmet shows the Samurai class being announced.
The baby behemoth shows the Beastmaster class being announced.
What... one can hope ;D
And I'm pretty sure it will be the day the benchmark gets released as well
We've had those helmets both years during the New Years event, I wouldn't read into it too much. He did say Samurai would be sometime down the line, but realistically I wouldn't expect anything more than Arcanist to be ready for launch. Unless they have a giant trick in their bag they haven't released yet.
maybe they will show us arcanist/ summoner gameplay for first time :|
My money is on the benchmark or beta invites for legacy players
the roadmap is long out alreadyMy first guess is releasing a Road Map with dates for the beta testing schedule.... but then after shooting myself down on the possiblity of that reality... I have to agree with the majority of people here of the beta app.
