Changing Servers at Release

The big question I still want to know is if they will be creating an official RP server like Yoshi-P said he wanted to do sometime back in an interview. There was mention he wanted to do this but I don't think there's been any mention of it since. A lot of the RP community is still waiting for a notification about this so we all know where to gather in advance instead of having to go through a big long poll like we've gone the past two times. Plus it lets those who absolutely despise RPers and newer people who want to get into the act know what server to avoid, or what server to go to.

they said old 1.0 players can't start on servers for new players.

can you actually make such statements without... well... having a plan? O.o

No....

They say that we can't transfer our characters to new server, but we are allowed to create new characters on new or old servers.

It wouldn't make much sense if we couldn't transfers servers since that would lead to increased lag on the servers with all the returning members...

The fact Alpha had almost zero lag should pretty much tell you this isn't the case.

I don't think it's necessary because you'll be playing all servers with multi-characters.

I want a "hardcore" server. ^^

Let us not forget that the commercial version of the game will have much more players than the alpha testers... I assume there were a lot alpha testers but in the commercial release there will be all the alpa tester (for the most part), non-alpha testers and new players... although I doubt they may all be on the same server in the same time... it is still a possible for server activity above what was tested in the alpha test... that is why they are still doing stress tests in the beta test... (I can't say much about the alpha test since I wasn't a part of it, so there may have been crazy stress test there too)...

If memory serves correct, as far as i know all 1.0 character's will be able to pick server's specifically dedicated for people with 1.0 character's... While everyone starting from scratch will have the option to pick were they start.. Something along the line of..
At launch!
Servers A, B, C, D: 1.0 character's priority, and return players
Servers E, through Z: Open for return player's only

At launch the server you pick will be your home until server hopping is allowed... no time frame on that option thought.

Hmm, I can't really tell right now because they are still arguing about 1.0 and FFXI stuff.

I think you are right that the new game will bring more new players but we should wait for beta to find out tho.
