You totally excluded Feb. from the scale. Phase 1 starts mid-Feb. Which puts launch somewhere between May-June.E3 will be around open beta (longest case, subject to change of course) so I wonder if SE will be handing out beta passes, if it hasn't launched yet.
SE said their roadmap wasn't to scale, so I scaled it.Two scales, using the shorter and longer time estimates (each white square equals 1 week).
Phase 1 Beta handouts will be most likely be sent between Mid-Jan to start of Beta.
the first 2 boxes of each scale is Feb, just isn't labled
I realize that it's not as simple as this but looking at the summer estimated release, I can't help but wonder why they don't just hold the release a few more months and launch this on the ps4. I mean, clearly we have waited this long for it, what's a few more months right ? :0
Again, I understand there is more to it than that but, they seem to have plenty of time.
we don't have an exact release date from Sony for the ps4 only rumors and speculated release dates. To add even more the ps4 will be very different from the ps3 so the coding, programming, etc etc will require alot of time for development etc, etc. i would hope SE wouldn't just do a simple ps3 port to the ps4 for ffxiv later down the road that would just cause more problems.I realize that it's not as simple as this but looking at the summer estimated release, I can't help but wonder why they don't just hold the release a few more months and launch this on the ps4. Plus SE already said they will release the ps3 version at all cost and even before thinking about releasing it for ps4. also (not trying to be an ass) SE does not have plenty of time, technically speaking they could take as long as they want to relaunch 14. but in reality they can't take too little or too long since if its a short time many problems will exist along with bugs, glitches, etc etc ppl will say they used all this X amount of time to fix the game and it's still broken. Or if they take too long ppl will 1- say its not good and our expectations weren't meet given its natural for humans expectations to increase overtime and 2- ppl wont even be their since they will have already lost interest and went with the competition.
This of course leads into a conversation about how long is TOO long but that's a whole other can of worms my friendwe don't have an exact release date from Sony for the ps4 only rumors and speculated release dates. I just think that eventually it would seem silly not to do a ps4 version, whenever that is.
i agree with you on this everyone has their own idea or opinion about the time how much too short/too long and it is just on big can of worms and an entire thread could be made just for that topic. just like you say when ps4 does release whenever it is i can see 14 as a launch title or soon after its official release. This of course leads into a conversation about how long is TOO long but that's a whole other can of worms my friendsome of us may argue that June July is too long while others find that time acceptable. Anyone still arguing that July isn't the release date will be in for a rude awakening. July is the hard cap release. This company is looking to release this game to a high standard. Put two and two together.
Also, when has any game development schedule been on time? Or a release date for that matter? Also ALSO, there is always downtime for a week to two weeks after open betas. Sorry, but your hanging onto the dream of FFXIV:ARR releasing any time earlier than July is looking a little sad, bros.
And another point would be that the amount of current PS3 owner is higher than the amount of PS4 buyer on the PS4 release date.we don't have an exact release date from Sony for the ps4 only rumors and speculated release dates. SE can always bring out a PS4 client after enough people bought a PS4.

I'm assuming you get fast tracked as first choice for being legacy, so if you are a legacy holder, you have a better chance of being selected for closed beta.
It's already been stated that all legacy members are in Phase 1.
