Oh hey, there's that generic battle system again. Here's hoping for some significant "revision."

Not for me huh? Clearly from a few posts, you some random guy on the internet has a total grasp on what I like and dislike. You like it, that's fine. There are people who dislike the core of this system based on what has been shown. Hoping for revisions (and there will be) isn't a bad thing. Telling, or advising people to go play something else is a sure way to make this game fall on yet another sword and die.
Also read my above post again. I said "We ALL" will be playing another game IF XIV fails.
Key word: IF.
lol..let me guess...you want a FFXI-2? this sounds quite familiar...Not for me huh? Clearly from a few posts, you some random guy on the internet has a total grasp on what I like and dislike. Yet another assumption. Boy you sure are good at that. I would love a FFXI-2 actually, but i'm not asking for it anymore as that dream has been dead for a few years. I want something different from the norm, and this generic garbage they have been showing is nothing that hasn't been done before. Final Fantasy in the title isn't going to sell this game to people anymore. Quality will. One thing Final Fantasy XI and XIV (in time) did well was having different and creative battle systems.
Now time for me to make an assumption since that seems to be the game we're playing. Are you a mindless Yes Man willing to lick Square-Enixs boots and defend them to death? There mere thought of someone disliking an aspect of their game sure pisses you off doesn't it?
Get over it. Your subscription isn't worth more then mine, nor is mine yours. I'll be here so get used to seeing me.

I love ffxi i went and play it again few months back and i have to say no thanks. I would love if they use more stuff from FFXI and make it new there noting wrong from using what you have and rebuild it.
lol we all know that blizzard new MMO going to be a better WoW-clone and why should it not if it really 100% diff people would not play it. I'll enjoy ffxiv more if they add more and more from all games not just ffxi and wow and that what they doing which is good

Can someone please explain to me why FFXIV 1.0's slow battle system with long cooldowns on almost every ability was so appealing to you people who hate the new faster paced battle system?
Honestly I hated the battle system in 1.0 it was too slow and it felt like a lot of sitting around waiting for auto attack to fill TP.

The thing I dislike about the standard fast-paced combat like the ones in WoW, Rift, and ARR is that it usually becomes a "focus on spamming your rotation and dodge boss mechanics" kind of play-style. I find it more fun if you have to pay attention to what your party members are doing as well, and respond according to what skills they use or what situation they get stuck in. Of course you can still kind of do this in longer boss fights with a fast-paced combat system, but I find it either becomes less important or too difficult to do because you have to pay too much attention to your own fast rotations. There's also the fact that it's really difficult to tell what skills your party members are using in ARR. In 1.0 this wasn't the case. Can someone please explain to me why FFXIV 1.0's slow battle system with long cooldowns on almost every ability was so appealing to you people who hate the new faster paced battle system?

Fast-paced combat systems also make fighting normal mobs incredibly boring imo. "Oh it just put a buff on itself. Oh well I'll just kill it and not worry about it." A lot of people here seem to have a lot of hate for FFXI's battle system, but the exping in that game was so fun imo because you had to actually pay attention even on normal fights. Dangerous abilities that needed to be stunned, buffs that actually had to be dispelled, and coordinating with party members to set up skillchains/magic bursts. Yea the battle system was slow, but the exping was 100x more fun than doing quests that require no focus at all.
