Get over yourself. Most people that are tired of this progression is tired of it because it's been done to death in almost every new MMORPG, you don't have to be a "purist" to want something new. Quest chaining is basic these days..but there's a reason people get bored to death of every new MMO that comes out..aside the gimmicks, they're all the same game underneath.

    Everything else
Seems like you can't see past FFXI or you'd realize just how overdone a lot of this is and why those MMOs aren't exactly taking off and dies off or tapers down to a dull simmer after a few months.

The perfect example of a poster who wants everything to pretty much be exactly like FFXI.

^ Perfect example of a butthurt poster, I'll bold exactly why too:

Forum rage comes from the fact that a lot of people on here have only played FFXI and FFXIV as their only MMOs and either want FFXIV 2.0 to be FFXI HD

    1. Jumping - A lot of ragers hate jumping well because it wasn't in FFXI and WoW has it.

    4. Regional Servers - A lot of rage came out on this topic because a lot of FFXI players

    5. Faster Battle Pace - A lot of rage on this is because once again FFXI players

    7. Questing as a form of exping - So much rage when SE released questing videos. Some FFXI puristsdon't like quest based leveling because they grinded lots of jobs in exp parties and did the same thing in FFXIV and think everyone should do it, reasoning ranging from it helps people learn their job to they make friends on the server will doing exp groups. Solo based quest leveling has become a staple of MMOs once again this was set by WoW and a lot of former FFXI players can't stand this. As it stands the general MMO playing population much perfers quest based leveling over grinding.
You're so butthurt by FFXI/FFXI players you inject that into your every post. You're right though, Almighty Zumi, people who got bored of WoW, Rift, Tera, SWTOR and GW2 are FFXI purists.

oh and lets face it most people don't do much more then read the op post (maybe lol) and maybe few at the end to reply too. you can call someone a fuk face over and over and be in a huge fight that is your fault and then throw in a why are you attacking me or just make it sound like it's his fault and people will start fighting for you or reping you instead of him lmao.

but that just means the minority probably should repeat themselves or it becomes a one sided thread that others are to worried about typing in cause the same few opposed will anal raped them and what they say. look at every thread and the first page and top post in every page its the one usually the highest rep. it is usually one sided and until someone said the opposite usually it stays that way. then someone said the opposite and finally others vocally join in. so i don't see nothing wrong with the vocal people. i could probably repeat exactly same thing every 5pages and i'll get a different group of 2-5people reping me. so the rep system is flawed and irelevent to what people think and feel about the topics and the game. it just means some people aren't lazy and read everything and they are on one side of the argument. witch is funny cause they are the casuals? lol get the fuk in game and stop complaining.

also don't forget almost all the majority of players ..weather you think they are casual or not...don't sit and blog on these crappy forums. they are out playing games and living life or what they do. not typing away at a pc. SE should never give you that much power and i doubt they do, they just make it look like it.

See this is a FFXI purist at work here, can't stand the change lol. Maybe FFXIV isn't for you since they are using more modern MMO concepts. Why not just go play some more FFXI?

As I said, you're right, Zumi, FFXI purists are the reason people got bored of all of the new MMOs quickly, has nothing to do with the game itself.

Indeed. And that has already gotten old. "OH TEH NOES. JUMPNG IN ARR MMO. FF14 IS TEH DOOMD" Give me a friggin break. I actually welcome jumping. It's a fine addition after all those times I got stuck trying to find my way around to a drop-off point on a small hill that I realistically could have hopped down with no problem. If it's a choice between that crap and "bunny hopping", well excuse me while I go put on my rabbit suit.

Huh? Why are people crying about this? Jeez, I play with a controller as well, and I don't have a problem with it. I mean, really? Just learn to play better. Or buy a gaming mouse or something. It's not like PvP is going to be big in this game like in other MMOs. Oh god, people can find anything to complain about.

While others are like the idea due to the fact they will have less lag and play with people who speak their language.
Now this seem like an actual legitimate concern. I have a lot of friends in my LS, and many of them are from different countries. It would really suck if I didn't get to play with them. I understand the "less lag" thing, but not being able to play with my pals from across the sea would be awful. Okay, I'll get behind that concern (though I barely see a post about that, if ever). Let's see if we can keep the reasonable concern going...

Ragers on this topic like to throw out words like they are making the game 'a spam fest'. Most modern MMOs are much faster paced then FFXI and FFXIV.
So much for reasonable concern. Seriously, I think people are just afraid that they'll actually have to think quicker while playing or something like that. Why can't some people just learn to freakin ADJUST?

Well, tough. If it helps the game to run better on my machine, then so be it. Besides, the new animations look fine to me actually. Having an abrupt stop and go doesn't hurt the game too much to me. Yes, the stop and go animations from the earlier version was awesome. But it's a small price to pay for everyone being able to run the game better.

And I couldn't agree more. I am one of those people who had to level my classes doing the same boring leves daily over and over or grinding on monsters, and doing he same thing forever and ever just to ding can get vomit-inducingly monotonous. Quests are an excellent addition. It adds a much more varied option to levelling than we had. And I don't care if it's been done before in other mmos. The many kinds of quests you can get and the fun that can be had makes it a perfect choice. This new feature is the one I like the most out of the features that were added. You know what's funny? People complaining that FFXIV isn't old school enough, yet when questing is put in, one of the most old school things about mmos, those same people crying about it. Bunch of QQing babies. Just never satisfied. lol

When in reality quest tracking is a useability feature to make quest based exping go faster and is in every modern MMO. Usually quest tracking can be turned off with a toggle in the menu UI however that isn't good enough for most ragers because if you give the player an easier option they will take it. FFXI gave very little directions in their quest once 1 person figured it out it was usually posted on FFXIclopedia where the majority of the playerbase looked at to figure out how to do their quests.
To tell you the truth, I don't want to have to do research in order to finish a freakin quest. Maybe to do a raid boss that is hard, I might look on youtube and the like for pointers and whatnot. But to have to go to some wiki to find the location of blah blah when it should be printed clearly on the quest or on the map? No thank you. Make the boss I have to fight to finish said quest hard if you must. Give me a challenge any other way. But I don't want to have to waste hours trying to find something that... I mean, really. What sadist wants to go through that?

This feature was invented by Blizzard in WoW and since then copied by a lot of MMOs thus once again a lot of hate since it was originally a WoW feature.
Yeah, I know. A recurring opinion among the most annoying people on these threads is that if WoW did it, it's bad/wrong/stupid. I really wish those people would shut up. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a dungeon/raid finder. What's wrong is standing around in chat shouting for a party for hours that never happens, then doing the same thing again the next day. Screw that. This game NEEDS a party finding feature, and I'm glad we're getting one.

Both proponents and opponents of this feature need to go DIAF. I'm so sick of it, I could puke. This is why we need to just not have marriage in the game. Because who really wants to deal with the whining and angry mud-slinging from either side?

Well, there is the matter of "casuals" whining that they should have an easy-mode path to acquiring epic gear. There's a horse that's been beaten well past it's expiration. Oh, and let's not forget the "We're veterans, so we should have been invited into alpha a long time ago" crowd. Oy vey...

Wow.. let me just get this out of the way first.

    1. Jumping - The problem that some have with jumping has absolutely nothing to do with Final Fantasy 11 not having it or the fact that World of Warcraft does have it.. the problem, and it's rather reasonable, is that some don't want to see other players needlessly jumping around.. it can become rather annoying honestly. I don't think anyone is outright against the idea of jumping.. just the way that some people use it.

    2. Grass and other background graphics - You might see it as knit-picking but some judge a game by it's graphics alone. So to those people it's hardly knit-picking.

    3. Backpedaling and Strafing - Is it wrong that some people want their movements to be more fluid?

    4. Regional Servers - Some people want a diverse group of players in their game. They want to play in a game where the world is always alive and doesn't die between the hours of 12 to 6 AM.

    5. Faster Battle Pace - There are those who actually like a more slow and strategic pace. You're right though.. they don't want it to become a spam fest.. what's wrong with that?

    6. Removal of character animation - What exactly is wrong with people wanting those animations in ARR?

    7. Questing as a form of EXP - A lot of people don't like quest based leveling because it's been done to death and hasn't changed, it can't really change to be honest either.. grouping with other players does help you learn how to better play your job and it also does fosters a sense of community as opposed to doing things on your own.

    8. Quest tracker and helper - I don't think anyone has a problem with an actual quest tracker. They just don't like the fact that every aspect of questing is presented to you. Big marks over peoples heads.. showing you the exact place you need to be.. being able to see the quests you have out has never been a problem for anyone I believe.

    9. Cross Server Content Finder - I believe the problem that a lot of people have with this is more so about community. It's harder to build a community with cross server content finders.

10 . Gay Marriage - So.. sense when has gay marriage became a thing with 11 players?

I hate the word rage.. and I hate the fact that you use it so much. You use it in a way to try and devalue the reasons that have been made in any of the 10 issues you've listed. Calling it rage is tantamount to labeling what you think as worthless opinion as white noise.

Also I find your detest for anyone whose only played FF kind of disturbing. But guess what.. it's not just FF players who think like this. It's a wide range of people who are tired of the way that MMOs have become and people who just want THIS game to be the best that it can be.

Despite the irony that I'm responding to this and making the thread last longer...

I have to agree this thread reeks of people being upset because people have opinions that differ from their own. Just because people tend to get a bit passionate or closed minded about a topic at hand does not utterly discount that persons right to post their opinion as many times as they want.

We are on a forum to discuss the game, we discuss the game in a forum not a academic setting where you say your peice and leave it at that. You are allowed to talk to individuals or make sweeping statements for others to respond at. I'm sure it's the same on the Alpha forums, (I'm sure some people think it must be sunshine and rainbows for some reason even when many people from the same community they decry are there as we speak.) People will speak their mind in the way they best know how.

It may not always be a giant thesis it may just be a persons blunt opinion on a subject. Does that give them any ground to stand on when challenged? Not really, but they were/are always allowed to have a opinion. Just because you have a different opinion doesn't make it invalidated.

Let's take a good look at what is being posted right now, Zumi has every right to assume anyone who disagrees with them is a FFXI purist. Does that make Zumi correct? Chances are no, all we can do is either tell them they are wrong (Pointless) or ignore them and continue with the discussion at hand. You are not obligated to read or even aknowledge Zumi's post, and Zumi would quickly either stop interjecting or continue to be ignored unless they found common ground with another person and they can start their own conversation.

No matter how terrible you think someones opinion on the forum is, it's never "Trash" or "Waste" of the forums because the people are using the forums for exactly what they were intended for, discussing the game. There is no set of rules (Asides from the general forum rules) to freeform discussion, and there shouldn't need to be. If your upset your "Intelligent" posts are being burried by "Unintelligent" threads it's a shame but that's how things go.

Should chaff "Repeated threads" be quickly locked and burried? of course, but as we lack the abillity to do so we have to leave that in the hands of the moderators. Many of my threads have been burried by people telling other people to stop speaking their mind it irks me in one sense and entertains me in another that the whole thread itself has been done before many times but is to the OP justified to bring to light a issue we all are allready aware of. It's a no-win battle people will and should continue to post however they see fit unless it breaks the forums user policy, it's not our job to police the forums it's our job to use them and discuss the future of the game in them.

If your topic proves popular enough you should have little issue with it falling from the front page while discussion is fresh, and relevant.
