wow I can't believe how rude people are getting over this subject. To each their own. Some people find the default restraining, some like it.

People are saying: "oh I have played mmo's more/longer than you so I KNOW what your preference should be!"
If that was the case, wouldn't the games designers not even allow us to re-map buttons?

I was a keyboard turner its not about preference its about what will actually make you better as a player I would not be arguing if it was just my opinion.

Really? well since u wanna hear more imma tell you.
In FFXIV you could be normally walking in any direction when outside of battle but also lock on the target when in combat mode and backpaddle or whatevs it's called. now in ARR backpaddling is an ALWAYS ON effect. you can't really turn it off and turn your camera around your character. the character will turn around with the camera and you will allways bee seeing his back.

Well so far all vids i have seen from alpha when he turns his camera around the character always turns too. I aint in Alpha so i only see what they show in the vids.

Your right I know nothing of mmo's lol I have only been playing them for 6 years... why would you even say I have never played an mmo then say backpedaling is dumb it literally makes no sense in the same sentence... I am trying to tell you that if you change your ways on the control of your character you will be an amazing player you have to learn these new controls in any modern mmo. I had a 2310 rated arena team in world of warcraft back in Cataclysm. I can't even begin to explain how hard that is to do... maybe others on here will know.

keyboard turner? such as you used only keyboard to play? That is fine. I think that what input method the player uses does not make them better or worse. I was able to complete all of 1.0's content using a controller. No one could tell that I used it, and I was able to perform just as well as those who used keyboard only, or keyboard and mouse.

I think what will actually make a person a better player is a system that makes sense to them. We all don't have the same brains, and we all don't do things exactly the same way. So whatever makes the individual be able to perform their best is what will be able to make them be "better as a player".

Yup .. the only difference now is that it happens even when you are unlocked. There is a way to completely turn around in 2.0 without back pedaling .... urrr umm .. I mean, I've heard there is.

I wouldn't make assumptions without having played the alpha. It's always possible that you can edit your targeting, just like in XI and ver. 1, and of course, they could change the mechanics based on tester feedback before they reach Beta.

The right mouse button held down turns the camera and the character. Left mouse button only turns the camera. It's like most current MMO's.
