I was a keyboard turner its not about preference its about what will actually make you better as a player I would not be arguing if it was just my opinion.wow I can't believe how rude people are getting over this subject. To each their own. Some people find the default restraining, some like it.
People are saying: "oh I have played mmo's more/longer than you so I KNOW what your preference should be!"
If that was the case, wouldn't the games designers not even allow us to re-map buttons?
Your right I know nothing of mmo's lol I have only been playing them for 6 years... why would you even say I have never played an mmo then say backpedaling is dumb it literally makes no sense in the same sentence... I am trying to tell you that if you change your ways on the control of your character you will be an amazing player you have to learn these new controls in any modern mmo. I had a 2310 rated arena team in world of warcraft back in Cataclysm. I can't even begin to explain how hard that is to do... maybe others on here will know. How droll.
You obviously dont care what anyone else thinks so no point in trying to talk to the brick wall you continue to reinforce with comments like that. You know nothing of the MMOs let alone what games I play so I would apreciate you not assuming things about me because of my preferences.keyboard turner? such as you used only keyboard to play? That is fine. I think that what input method the player uses does not make them better or worse. I was able to complete all of 1.0's content using a controller. No one could tell that I used it, and I was able to perform just as well as those who used keyboard only, or keyboard and mouse.
I think what will actually make a person a better player is a system that makes sense to them. We all don't have the same brains, and we all don't do things exactly the same way. So whatever makes the individual be able to perform their best is what will be able to make them be "better as a player".
Trust me you could not perform in any high end content in wow as a keyboard turner, sorry its not possible.keyboard turner? such as you used only keyboard to play? That is fine. LOL I think its laughable you believe that. Strafe Left + Turn Left on keyboard controls on WoW was <.1s behind click turning. Also if someone accustomed to 100% keyboard controls had to reach over to their mouse to turn, its far slower than Strafe Left/Turn Left.
Maybe PVP where you are trying to constantly LOS your opponent by running and jumping random crazy directions non-stop its required to move with the mouse but for endgame its not required at all because nothing in the game (where you had to move directly backwards) was so fine tuned that .1s made any difference. The tightest timer in the game was Heroic LK's void zone drop (1.5s to move 12 yards away from people) and meele were able to get out of range by strafing on the keyboard.
Basically Strafe (which was added to Alpha V2.0) and turn (same direction as strafe you used) is so close to just free running backwards that its literally the same thing.
Sorry I have no idea what your talking who uses there keyboard to turn again? Your not even on topic of my controls of wow lol. Watch the above video please.LOL I think its laughable you believe that. Strafe Left + Turn Left on keyboard controls on WoW was <.1s behind click turning. When it comes down to it I just don't want the game to be slowed down or gimped for a controller. But if they can manage to keep the game-play smooth on both that's great and i would welcome that whole heartily ^^.

Going by what we've seen of the controller UI, I believe they will
That's 16 commands readily available at the press of a button (well, two actually). It could well be the most efficient controller setup ever made. Now we just have to wait to know more of the movement and camera controls, but it looks like it'll be pretty smooth for combat.
