I miss the skillchains. I believe that was exclusive to FFXI for quite awhile. That is the one thing I would love to see implemented in 2.0 instead of combos.

What they said they intended to remove was v1.x's combo system's reliance on position - I believe PvP was mentioned as the reason. That is, for instance, where a combo would only trigger for a particular action if that action was executed from behind the target.. now in v2.0, it needn't be used from any particular angle for the combo to go off.
Which is a shame, I think.

The first clue that this person is a troll and you are wasting breath even talking to him. This phrase means "I'm just saying this to instigate an argument but I don't really care what you think and this may or may not actually be my opinion on the matter"
It's really not because the bonus effects weren't really worth the bending over backwards to be in the right position. But, if they were worth it, then people would cry "OP!"Which is a shame, I think.

From what I remember, they said the side requirement will still be there, but only for the initial WS in the combo. The following skill can be launched from anywhere. What they said they intended to remove was v1.x's combo system's reliance on position - I believe PvP was mentioned as the reason. Thanks Fens, thats what i meant ^^
Have you even played FFXIV? If you had a 3-skill combo you had to use the first 2 from the right angle in order to be able to use the following skills as a combo -.-
I think that is the most critical feature they remove from the game, I hope they might reconsider that. PvP is no reason, they simply can disable the positioning for PvP, but leave it for PvE.

Umm no. It's not.

No it's not being removed, it's just being dumbed do-- er, I mean... simplified in favor of the oh so critical PvP.Have you even played FFXIV? If you had a 3-skill combo you had to use the first 2 from the right angle in order to be able to use the following skills as a combo -.-

It's almost like it's in the same genre. However that's silly, we all know that every single MMO ever is a completely different and unique entity separate from everything that came before it. You know, just like all video games.ARR reminds me A LOT like Aion
ARR reminds me A LOT like WoW
ARR reminds me A LOT like Rift
ARR reminds me A LOT like Warhammer Online
ARR reminds me A LOT like SWToR
ARR reminds me A LOT like LotRO
ARR reminds me A LOT like any mmo released in the past few years
That is because the core is the same in all of them?
I wanted to start puking when I saw someone bitching about the person showing the alpha was "a clicker" - "any serious guild would kick him" =.=
Actually I'm fairly certain they said that the first part of every combo will still require the directional position but the rest won't.What they said they intended to remove was v1.x's combo system's reliance on position - I believe PvP was mentioned as the reason. Aion does not have GCD. o.O FFXIV ARR is nothing like Aion lol...
