For those that haven't checked: I've only seen male miqo'te mentioned once by Vavaki in Frondale's Phontistery.

An effective medicine requires detailed study of both the male and female of a species, but male Miqo'te are simply nowhere to be found. Rumors say that some reside right here in Ul'dah, but they must avoid people like the bloody plague, because I've yet to set eyes on a single one!

I'm also curious about each race's naming conventions and I read that they will be posted in the official website that also includes the lore and things. Can't wait! ^^

I dunno, just saying they were "always there lawl" seems like a cop-out. SE is one of the greatest story tellers ever, I think so anyway. Now you're telling me that they were always around is kind of cheap. It would be so weird playing a male Miqo'te and not knowing their origins.

2.0 may be a completely different game, but it uses the same lore. It's not as though 1.0 never happened (as much as some people want to think it never happened). Female Miqo'te could have the same lore in 2.0 as in 1.0, so the Males should too.

Exactly. I mean, they had an explanation for a simple resizing of the enemies. I don't think a small story about why the other sexes are playable would hurt anything. Hell, it would probably make the lore more interesting.

Why wouldn't you want that? It's a reboot of the games structure and level design. Not the story.

Actually, you know what? Just dropping 1.0 and pretending none of those events mattered is a little silly. They went through a lot of trouble to reboot this game with a story. Just tossing in retcons goes against everything they worked so hard for. Continuity in the face of a total restructuring.

I know that YoshiP is planning on putting out a ffxiv book that is all about the games' lore and what not but i'm sure this wont come out until after 2.0 anyway

Wow, I need to be tremendously cautious with my wording around here, seems the fact i'm not native to english is showing.
I simply do not like the current explanations at all. Perhaps I did not convey properly that it's a matter of me simply not liking them.

I think for the most part they will just say that they were there i mean we had a roegadyne female as a Leader for one. Everyone is rechoosing their race + genders in 2.0 as well so unless SE is going to deny players the *i reappeared from stasis* scene it just wont work to not retcon it. For you to be a for example a female highlander who jumped to the future would clash with any lore that said they werent there.

edit: At best they might say something along the lines of them being moved into coming and joining the fight as the events leading up to the Garlean assault and Dalamud occured

Well who's to say the events of dalamud didn't transform them somehow.
It's basicly the same excuse for changing sizes of the creatures.
