Yes, because 1.0 wasn't crushed under it's own hype...or The Old Republic....or Guild Wars 2....or Diablo III...it's pretty interesting that SE insists on showing probably the most mundane parts of the game. One of the most typical quests (kill 3 pigs, like seriously) and low level combat. And then videos where they do nothing but run around.
Step it up SE. Every other company knows how to hype their games.
Hype does not a good game make.

I see what you did there...yoda haha.. anyway the best games and movies where always the not so talked about sleepers from now where
"I care nothing about who dominates the land, For me and my brethren will forever rule the skies." Forgo the Forgotten Dragoon

Because the game is incomplete.
Rather than rushing to show things that aren't fully built and cause a collapse like 1.0 experienced, I feel this approach of gradually revealing gameplay as it evolves works so much better.
It's infinitely worse to show a gameplay video of a raid using an incomplete game build than it is to show small videos of the evolution of the gameplay.
Yes, the game is incomplete, but do you seriously believe that. I assure you that when release time comes they will still not be communicative enough in their videos and marketing. There is nothing wrong with explaining what you have, as you have it. Everyone knows this is Alpha gameplay since there is that giant watermark.
Yes, they show extremely boring kill 3 boar quests. This is what customers who haven't played the game think the questing is now like. They don't know about all the job quests and campaign quests. They just think "oh, the questing system in FFXIV is pretty much what we have seen before...LAME"
Even just calling them "sidequests" rather than "quests" would have helped. This is what I mean when I say SE needs to be more communicative and express what they have better. They aren't even doing justice to what they've got.

Or is it only acceptable to show things you personally deem worthy? Please try and keep a proper argument together.
They are illustrating how the quest SYSTEM has changed from 1.0. This isn't some trailer to get people interested whom have never played before. And of course they aren't going to know about all the job quests. There are currently only, what, 2 jobs even available for play in the Alpha?
Plus, the ARR quest system really ISN'T innovative compared to other MMO's. It's near impossible to get away from this model, and no other game has really done it in recent memory. What has changed is the way the system has changed from 1.0.
You're asking too much of a test phase that is meant to simply stress the server and find preliminary bugs. You're asking for beta level videos now, when that phase of development may not even be complete.
