yes is serious, it's better to wait 1 month to see fun videos and make people want to play the game instead of boring videos, it's marketingIs this thread serious? I always thought this day would come...when the community who demanded gameplay videos and updates would go up in arms when they got the stuff they were demanding...
Seriously, it's an Alpha. Test. Stress tests and bug weeding. I wouldn't be surprised if there are no large man dungeons and serious raids until beta, and even then, that is still for testing purposes. You're asking for something completely absurd of an alpha test. This is not meant to be a fully playable build.
Or hey, should we be raging because the level cap is 20 and only two jobs are available? That's clearly indicative of the final release, right?! /sarcasm
These videos aren't meant to bring new people in. The videos are in response to the clamor for gameplay videos so that people can't rage "Why only CGI?!" and as part of the transparency policy the new dev team has adopted.
The sheer amount of stupidity in this topic is astounding.
Thank the lord you aren't on the marketing team.
For many people, like myself, these are exactly the kind of videos we want to see, because most of us understand that much is still in development.
You want to see raid videos using the current, incomplete build of the game, where many other ignorant people will see it and go "This looks like another incomplete piece of crap like 1.0 was!"?
That isn't marketing, that's stupidity.
We need something like those WoW TV-Spots.
At same time some Videos with critical Errors, so that players understand what Alpha really means (the Miqo'te without tail is one thing no one ever forgets -> Letter from the Producer - LIVE). Mentioned from Yoshi-P but never really seen: Stuck in Wall.
As suggested before maybe some Making off videos where each week another office will be presented...
Currently SE marketing lacks of something remarkable, something special...
Hell, there is so much the marketing could do, but I wonder how long they will wait with all that? Time does not wait, it is running!
it's pretty interesting that SE insists on showing probably the most mundane parts of the game. One of the most typical quests (kill 3 pigs, like seriously) and low level combat. And then videos where they do nothing but run around.
Step it up SE. Every other company knows how to hype their games.
Yes, because 1.0 wasn't crushed under it's own hype...or The Old Republic....or Guild Wars 2....or Diablo III...it's pretty interesting that SE insists on showing probably the most mundane parts of the game. Hype does not a good game make.
I see what you did there...yoda haha.. anyway the best games and movies where always the not so talked about sleepers from now where
