I'm with Yoshida-san on this.
I don't mind voice chat, but I don't want it to become a requirement, which is what's going to happen if they implement it ingame.

I think they should add an in-game voice chat function.
Here's how I think it should, and possibly could work:
If your solo and wandering around town or the forests -> You can only respond and read text.
However, if you have your LS turned on, Free Company active, or in a party, there should be a toggle or menu option, or button to start and/or join party chat function for PS3 players to communicate with each other and their PC counter-parts.
For PC players that don't have mumble installed, or Ventrillo, they can use it to, but most likely, if they already have them installed, like me and everyone else mostly does, they can continue to keep on using them.
I don't know the technicalities of how to make this kind of stuff actually happen, but I really enjoyed using it on FF XI when I played with my cousins or friends through Xbox Live party chat. So, if I didn't have that then the game would have sucked ass for me, since it was my first Final Fantasy and talking to others through chat really helped me learn about the game and connect.
It's not 100% needed, but I honestly do feel that it should be strongly considered sometime down the road for future players.
This.
Personally I abhor voice chat, half the time nothing of value is said and it's just...awkward. I don't mind doing it once in a while, if it's for talking over the strat of a new fight or dungeon but I absolutely detest it when people are like "Get on vent" every freaking time I log into the game.
Voice chat can have it's perks, but it's not a necessity and I hope they don't implement it.
Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means
i like voice overs in main story lines. when they flip on it's like woot and the hand flops down putting the controller away like i'm watching a movie for a minute and rather not read the epic main story lines. but in the end if it's all voice overs then you can tell how hard it will be to keep up with it as expansions and patches come into the game. fact it will become a tall tale sign of the game losing ground when they lol switch to not voiced.
i don't speak jp so i'ma be selfish in saying lol make it in english. but on a off the head thought. how hard would it be to create a mmo with one language like movies and add a ability for players to literally voice over the game for the public? so say it's in just jp. but other players can download into ffxiv some linkshells/players/reinhart(lol) anyone even devs/ voice over and it will layer it into all the cut scenes. then people can vote on them and have ones that are correct, and lol obviously ones that aren't but can add to repeatability of it. people will probably love to redo or see them with other peoples farces or lore instead. but no idea how hard this would be in doing. doesn't sound like that hard in my head lol. but would be awesome.

Weird video, I don't see voice chat being in FFXIV anytime soon, however this wouldn't be too bad in FFXIV.

Voice fonts that'd be cool for the shy people who never want to talk on teamspeak/mumble/ventrillo
oh lmao, woops. i'll look for the voice over one and add my thoughts i think i'm onto something cool. lolol.
as for ingame voice i don't think it's needed. i hate vent, i hate manditory vent for events and usually don't join those shells/guilds. and it sucks cause pre vent i was always in top linkshells and now i'm usually side steped cause of this. i like my old ways of typing ffxi style.
but there was cool features you can do with this like in apb(all points bulletin) there was ingame voice, but also you can get close to other peoples cars and then hear what music there listening too. i think being able to walk up to people that have this turned on would be cool for people other then me lol. then you can have zone chats, private chats, and you can have walk up to people chats.
can afk with a message replaying and what not, play music. but it might not be very final fantasy feel to this. well at least not ffxiv feel with the music. maybe if the game was crafted to look like final fantasy 10-x or some futuristic final fantasy cities. but the convo part of it sounds like something people will enjoy that use it.
but all in all ps3 probably won't have this and i'd rather play without it. saving a little time pre farming might be a big thing for linkshells looking to beat records and hit firsts but for the most repeating the same tactics over and over doesn't need chat in any way. we used to beat 64man content without it and just macro's so you can't argue that.![]()

It's kinda weird but I think the technology will one day be common place in mmorpgs.
Woah, that's actually pretty cool.Weird video, I don't see voice chat being in FFXIV anytime soon, however this wouldn't be too bad in FFXIV.
