Solid State Drive. Its because it doesn't have any spinning parts, in simple terms just think of it like a giant RAM (Random Access Memory) brick.

(SSD are slower then RAM btw :P so.. yeah take the comparison loosely :P)

I could be making this up but I feel like (awesome assurance.. right? lol) that Yoshi said the reason why it wasnt fixed is because they felt developing extra features to a system that was going to be tossed was wasteful* of their resources and that they rather be as efficient as possible. So who knows if it will be in, but if it is in expect it to work.

    * Which is a major reason why new content systems or large scale fixes that weren't utterly necessary never happened.

You get the most from you SSD if you install the OS on it. Fast boot times, better program responsiveness (if you install them on the SSD). I can't work on HDD based PCs without feeling irritated at their sluggishness anymore... For FFXIV 1.0, you will also get rid off the microstuttering since SSDs handle small files much better than HDDs.

Overall, pack everything you can on the SSD. If they weren't so expensive, I'd move to SSDs completely.

I was going to grab one too! haha but my husband gave me a death stare from across the room, so I had to look at it lovingly and weep instead

Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means

Just show her your subligar - works on mine...

(If you (anyone) have any questions http://lmgtfy.com/ ... lol XD, but seriously that I know of there are at least 5 CS majors on the forums and hundreds of computer hobbyists.. so together we can make ARR look sexy and load instantly)

Please dont defrag your SSD though.. :P
