Oh the tunnels were there for a reason alright. They were there to hide the inherent flaw in seamless zones. It connected the world without loading screens, however they deliberately kept mob spawns from these locations so you didn't run into issues of mobs disappearing on combat, not being able to see party members etc.

It still happened if ppl drug the mobs away from their home location far enough, or had ppl in your party on follow and found them just stop following because of "softzones"

Which reminds me, how about making a /follow that will retain it's target after you cross through a zone area? is that so hard?
Have /follow recognize when you zone and remember "X" was your target and after you load look for "X" target and /follow it again!

I'll take a loading screen to transition between more creative zones any day.

Besides.... loading screens on PC aren't really a problem.. lol

I'm a fan of the FFXII style zonelines and loading screens they seem to be implementing.

Honestly, I did like how vast the 1.0 world seemed to be, but once you figure out it's only an illusion, it kinda lost its charm. I'm fine with zonelines, especially if the transition is as fast as the Alpha footage is making it seem.

I like what they've done compared to what we had originally, but seamless zones can be done correctly.

I'll take a brief loading screen over running into invisible level 80+ mobs and being one-shot. That **** was inexcusable.

Zone areas are a healthy decision for both server and players i think, and these zone dots remind me of FF12. It brings some nostalgia.

You'll get no argument from me there. I'm just saying that other games do it, and they do it well. It'd be nice not to have load screens. Seamless worlds are nice.

Not really complaining, but it absolutely makes for a more dynamic world. But, again, it'd have to be done correctly.

Bear in mind that XIV is a cross region MMO, latency has to be added to the equation. I like no loading too, but i think they did right by this.

They did what they could, but you can make each region seamless. That's the really the best way to make it work. You never know, maybe "PS3 limitations" are holding the game back already.
