Who knows, maybe SE will increase the gil cap since they took all gil worth down by a factor of 10. If that is the case, then they can make the value of one L sized house as half of the max possible gil or equal to the max possible gil. That way even those who have max gil right now won't buy off the land immediately.

They are. Gil cap is still 999 which is an increase of 900 million. Reaching it would be like getting 10 billion 1.0 gil

Then there should be nothing to worry about if they make the price of one house five times the the gil of those who have max gil now. Although it may be still be a far off dream for those who only lie in the hundred thousand gil mark.

How in the world could you possibly think this would be a good idea? Making one house cost 5 times as much as people who capped out on gil in 1.0, which would make it 5 billion gil (500 million in 2.0)? When after two years of playing the many still haven't broken the 100mil mark, in 1.0?

"Dude, look at this awesome housing system we have!"
"Hellz yes, it's awesome, how much are we gonna charge the players for this?"
"Lemme see..... enough where we can guarantee that 99.99 percent of the player base will only get to see this housing system on youtube! LOLOLOLOLOL!!!"

With pricing they can't focus on the gil we had in 1.0 since we won't be able to make that much so swiftly anymore (Plus that would really suck for all the players starting in 2.0) - to price them fairly they'll have to focus on what you can make in 2.0 which while still being expensive won't be ridiculously out of reach.
I'm not saying you'll be able to buy it off the bat, but I'd expect the small ones atleast to be obtainable.

Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means

    You're... you're mad!
5 times the max indeed... *shakes head* I know multiple people who will start off with around 400k after the redenomination... granted most I know will start with about 5mil

Even if the land costs 1m thats 20% of 2 years worth of gil gone... to have L land go for 10m + in 2.0 would seem to drive a lot of people off if there is no 'upgrade' system...

They have said you can sell unwanted land back to an NPC but they didn't say for how much. 100% of price? 25% of price?

The only reason I suggested that was to provide a solution for the concern in the first four pages. I say five because yoshi did say it would take 5 level 50 players to earn enough for an L szed house. Although, I don't suggest that every level 50 is at gil cap at least we know the highest they could make the price for the land.

But that's where the pricing model comes in. The longer a plot goes unsold, the more the price drops. Therefore, theoretically, someone should end up buying the unused land since it'll get cheap enough for the less rich.
