Darn, oh well, that does make sense I suppose. It would be a very bizarre juxtaposition to suddenly see skyscrapers in the housing district, haha :P I hope the layouts have the opportunity to be changed around though; the defaults might not serve everyone's desires/needs

They said they will have a group working just on the housing, and will be looking forward to making big content releases - it seems they are serious about this so you can look forward to that .

Because you buy the land, then buy the house I think you can look forward to at least a few different layouts (I'm curious if you can buy multiple small houses for large land plots).

  • After you build a house, you can't trade that patch of land. [He did not elaborate.]
    
  • Once you build a house, there won't be any upkeep cost.
    
  • Housing is planned to be implemented in the first big update after release. However, since debugging still needs to be done, we will get to test it somewhere at the end of Beta.

Yeah however we don't know what the criteria for the creation of a new instance is. If an entire instance must fill up before a new one opens then there's a problem. You get people who won't buy a house because they're waiting for a new instance with L-size plots to open up, thus less people are buying houses, thus you have the potential for a new plot to not open up for a long time.

What I'm getting at is that we don't know enough specifics to really say much at this point.

Has there been any mention on vertical build limits for houses? I'm curious if I could get away with buying a small plot and just build upward indefinitely :P

That won't be possible, since if you buy an S-sized patch of land, you can only build an S-sized house on it. The reasoning behind them restricting it like this was mentioned in the gamewatch interview: when they designed the landscape of the housing areas, they had to keep house sizes in mind. So they had to distribute the land somehow.

The closest to that was that apparently you can divide the inner space of L-sized houses into rooms for individual use, but I'm not sure about my translation of that part. So let's say it's not confirmed yet.

I wonder if those L plots will be more then 1mil? Since the redenomination that is (10mil in 1.0)... I hope not.

LOL they will be way more than 1 million. Try like 30-50. That's my guess.

I'm hoping an S plot will be 1mil but I'm doubting that too. Probably more like 5-10.
