Gridania has this "Korean MMO" look to it. Big, open forest-y area with a giant, spinning crystal in the middle set to very subtle, calming music.
I dunno. Just not quite clicking with me. Then again, I'm a Limsa man so as long as Limsa is great, I'm good. :3
I will say, though, that tower/dungeon thing with the imps along the path really felt like King Ranperre's Tomb. That was a huge blast from the past for me.
I'll have to experience Gridania for myself though before I pass full judgement. I will say, however, that I could slap the music of Ronfaure from FFXI onto the new Black Shroud in a heartbeat.
that imp room reminded me of bastok mine more only cause it was connected to the city area. it was very small room though i wouldn't be surprised if it worked just like it and there was a huger part of the mine somewhere out in the world that connects to it.
i liked the vid only thing i noticed was the maps open up way too fast but i don't really care i don't explore anything they don't make me threw events/quests and story/nm hunting. but in ffxi they forced you to get the map usually after you got somewhere witch made it awesome cause you could get lost looking if you didn't cheat and look up a map. it took me half a day trying to find rabao in altep zone. i kept getting lost lmao, finally ran into people and it turned out it was 5seconds from there>< ...but it's one of those things i remember and enjoyed for the first few hours lmao.
^^^..This, "Fog of War" we shouldn't see any names of an area that is fully covered up by the Fog map. It takes away from the adventure and exploration. Is there a comment anywhere about the maps?
Except for npc marked quest locations I dont want to see an areas name and what buildings it has there before I've even been there.. >.> lol. But I love the color style of the map bet there will be exploring achievements now
And I keep looking at the stone pathways going "tessellation baby here we come" anyone else? lol
That's why I loved the fact that you had to buy map in FFXI.. you couldn't see any of the map at all...that was hardcore exploration. Some maps where quest rewards some maps were bought or found.
Take away the names on the fogged areas Yoshi/Dev team. Or you might as well have no "Fog of War"....
What are you alpha testers bugging??? Letting stuff like this slip.
"You cannot simultaneously prevent and prepare for war."
I hope they show some in-game footage of Limsa soon.
The wooded area gives off more of a tidy garden vibe than a forest vibe to me.
Feels very empty, but this is alpha so.
The enclosed dungeon area sat with me better.
