So it's only about what would affect other people, eh? It hasn't occurred to you that when it's said "people shouldn't have to pay more money for cash shop items in a game they're already paying a sub for", that those making that argument are, in fact, including themselves?

    Here's a scenario for you...

Let's say, in some insane alternate dimension, SE has decided to add a cash shop to the game. There's an item they're selling that I really dig and would like to have. But oh, it's not available by playing the game. It has to be bought from the Cash Shop, for the equivalent of $10 (just an arbitrary number).

So now all of a sudden, it's not affecting "someone else". It's affecting me. I have to either cough up the $10 - on top of my sub fee - for that item. Or I have to do without it. Those are my "choices" on the matter.

If I would rather earn the item in-game by crafting, or questing, or as a rare drop, or buying it from another player with in-game gil and none of those options are available to me.... it's "cheapening"(to use your term) my experience. Similarly, if I have to spend extra real $$$ to obtain that item, just so I can enjoy the game as I'd like to - regardless of what others think of the item or its worth - then my experience is being "cheapened" as well. And for others, it's potentially cheapening theirs.

Nice attempt at spinning and undermining the actual issue people have. But, well, it failed.
