I am starting to get blank ideas over this. Technically as long as SE doesn't call it marriage, they can get away with anything. As long as the ceremony is conducted by none religions figure they can get away with anything. As long as the lore make's the "connection" of necessity, not of emotion they can get away with anything. I simply don't see any further stones on this path, just weals spinning in the mud.

I don't know. Maybe making a epic joining quest, or even a quest line, for two people would be a good thing. In RL you don't have to go fight any beasties to be joined. It would separate it better.

I daww'd a little bit at the thought of that. What better way to join two people together than a quest of hardships and joys! Fantastic idea.

Ha ha, thanks for quoting me. And yes, there are people on Kotaku, who said they were active players and canceled their subscription over it. One particular person said he/she had dealt long enough with it with StarWars Old Republic (I think that's what the game is called) and now this just push it over the edge.

I personally won't quit the game over this. I've lived long enough as a gay man myself to have my happiness get bothered (in this case the joy of playing the game) by bigots and cooperations which think too highly of themselves. This is a game after all, I don't want to bring real life politics into it. That said, it's a topic I have no problem standing up my view and will continue fight for what clearly at least 500+ people in this English forum know is supporting, which ultimately, is what we should be arguing about. If you think about it, they asked for our opinion, we voted, then they are hesitated to give us what they asked us to vote for.

To those who argued about the population size:

1. In economical statistic, which I have a degree on, the population size of this forum is good enough to act as a sample size of the whole game population. The fact that people actively voted themselves gives this a perfectly random population sample without bias.

2. The argument of "there are a size of population voted yes because they just don't care" is not even an argument at all. Just because they don't care they still have to actively choose "yes" or "no", and they chose yes.

In response to number 2 it actually does matter according to statistic principle. There should be a third category for people who don't care. Because if you don't care your more likely to vote yes then no. A person who does not care wouldn't say no as it does not effect them so why bother.

To that end there should also be an option for those who want marriage straight removed. A survey of the populace can only be seen as legitimate if the answers one can give are collectively exhaustive and mutually exclusive, which a simple poll like this does not fulfil. I swear every body seems to have a doctorate on these forums.

non-realworld religious figures = ok. Eorzea religion I see no problem why they cant.
They can get away with emotion as well, and I hope they do something of the sort. Simple dialog "How are we to bind you two?" "A. Binding of kin B. Something more...

Would hate to see SE have to water it down to "nice to meet you, now you are both bound, YAY, get out" lol


And I really like the idea of the quest - I know one popular idea for it is to fight insurmountable odds or teamwork specific dungeons. Like to push other contents being included as well.. Imagining a mithra x taru sitting on the dock fishing together XD... I think you could make the quest kind of "sample" all gameplay elements - completing them all would take more then 10 minutes of dedication.

Pretty much yeah. There's so many things they can do to get around the "controversy" they've brought up themselves lol.

There is more to discuss but at this point we're mostly just waiting for a response. Can't really discuss too much further without knowing what Yoshida and team has decided.

Think this thread served its purpose I think it just useless drivel now on either side of the issue nothing new has come out of it besides same old repeats from people including myself to be frank. Now I am going to wait and see how SE make there mind up on whenever that is and put an end to this thread or start a new one for people to troll on.

Its sad that video games have become too much like real life...very, very sad. They are no longer an escape from the grind of life, just another political vehicle for people to push their views, regardless of subject or stance.
