Like I've said, whether SE decides to include marriage or not makes little to no difference to me.Speaking as someone in the GLBT community, I find it much easier to get the facts first...before getting bent out of shape. Trust me I completely understand where you are coming from, however we are talking about a game and not reality. My gut tells me that SE will allow all marriages to happen, but who knows. If you want to make a real difference in reality then staunchly support yourself, but remember that sometimes we can agree to disagree and be respectful on both sides. Besides it always annoys the anti-glbt side when you look more mature than them.

Also, in case anyone is curious, the ratio is currently 4.3x higher in favor of including.
It's a game, who cares. Gay couples deserve to be as miserable as straight couples. This is 2012 most people have known or befriended a gay person in their life time so whatever.

People are getting caught up in the for or against it. What we NEED aside from just for-or-against votes is SUGGESTIONS on HOW to go about implementing it that is a win-win for all.

Let's team up Vil and whack people with a foam bat til we can get more ideas flowing! haha
Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means
Technically there will never be a win-win as you can't please everyone. But some good suggestions have been brought up in the thread already. It is up to the community representatives to get the information to Yoshida.

Oh I know that, but we can at least come together to find a happy medium that will be acceptable by most.
I have my nerf bat ready to fend off any trolls <_< >_>

Suggestions:
- changing the name of the union between people
- as FFXIV seems more quest-driven, I'll actually thought that a (relatively) challenging quest between the two people willing to be bonded will set out a nice pre-bonding session. Reward of rings (or something that signifies the union) at end of quest? Then take to cathedral to be bonded.
- rather than one priest, why not two? One for each of the patron's diety, to witness the bonding. If both people have the same diety, then two priests of that diety? And as they're being bonded...having the light shine up like it did during the sealing of Bahamut, but of a lesser scale?
- seeing as it is in a cathedral, perhaps having the option to change the backdrop/a facade of a landscape of your choice? Beach on Vylbrand, snowy peaks of the mountainous area, oasis in the middle of Thanalan...
- celebratory items....fireworks? Really can't think of anything else.
I actually really like this idea but have trouble seeing it implemented. Kind of hope it happens, though.as FFXIV seems more quest-driven, I'll actually thought that a (relatively) challenging quest between the two people willing to be bonded will set out a nice pre-bonding session. Reward of rings (or something that signifies the union) at end of quest? Then take to cathedral to be bonded.

Oh wow, I love the idea of a bonding quest. Or maybe a quest chain involving your patron deity. (Or some symbol of him/her or in the case of NaldThal, them.)
