That's great, except Yoshi-P is developing this game for people from the most casual to the most hardcore, so I don't buy this argument.

Big post and I don't mean to take away from what you said, but you hit the nail on the head. I agree completely, especially about the part with anima being a resource to manage. When I'm actively doing stuff in game, I'm using my anima. When I get down to 20-30 anima, that's when I start trying to conserve it, and that's when I'll use my chocobo more often.

Still happened to me in FF14. I had impeccable timing when it came to that thing.

Traveling adds needed longevity to a game. if you want to be productive, traveling is going to add a bit more time to that productivity therefore increasing the time it takes for you to finish the game. Not everyone is as impatient as you. An MMO that can be finished within months is garbage.
Traveling is a horrible option for making a game seemly last longer. Next you're going to tell me FFXI was "hard" because NMs were on a 21-24 hour timer with 30 minute intervals. People seem to have trouble distinguishing between what's difficult and what's simply time-consuming. The same thinking is here with "this content will last longer if I take the slowest possible way everywhere."

If you want to ride or run around everywhere go for it, but we already have the teleporting system in game and it's here to stay.
