...seems the horrible systems Blizzard call Cross Realm Dungeons and Cross Realm Zones, which a large number of people playing WOW detest with a passion, is coming to FFXIV:

Since it may be difficult for newer players to find others with the same objective, who are of the same level, the system will bring people together from multiple worlds. That way, you can play what you want, when you want.

This is a recipe for disaster, the long experience of the cross-realm Looking For Dungeon has amply shown it breeds excessive greed and ass-hattery, because players can be jerks and then return to their own realm with no repercussions with regard to their community reputations.

Cross Realm Zones has destroyed large parts of the gathering game, now the over-competition for resource nodes makes leveling gathering a nightmare.

Please Yoshi, I beg of you, DON'T inflict this community-killer on us.

Having a worldwide community is a bad thing? I believe that is just the next step.

In GW2 you can join any friend in any server, anytime.
Also did you hear about TESO and mega servers?

New games will all go in that direction. No more servers limit.

Speak for yourself, the LFR system totally ruined WoW.. I guess we'll have to see how the dungeon finder system works for FFXIV (better not put in a LFR!!)

Cross realm does impact the behaviour between players, especially when it places a smaller emphasis on the interaction between people on the same server... seriously WoW should be the prime example of what we don't want.

I mean.. the last thing we want is a community like the World of Warcraft community (I sincerely hope so, anyway..)

I don't think it's fair to dismiss his concerns... considering I saw at least half you guys posting about the quality of the damn grass.

The community in WoW was much better when you had to form groups and interact with people on your server. Now you just que and loot.

Unfortunately most WoW players don't understand this because a lot of the original player base quit mostly due to the changes implemented in WotLK/Cataclysm.. (and I mean Pandaria has everyone leaving so..) the player base is now mostly comprised of Blizzards new target audience who are interested in logging in for and hour or two a day and winning everything (basing this from the amount of veteran players who quit from the server I was on, and the complaints and longstanding youtube WoW players who also quit).

The sense of entitlement in that game is so bad I considered not playing MMORPGs just so I wouldn't have to deal with people like them ever again.

Where was it stated that we're getting cross server zones? Last I heard, we only have a Content Finder, for dungeons.

I played wow, and don't remember anyone "detest"ing it. Sure, you find jerks like everywhere, but they usually shut up when they're locked up to every istance without ending one because they've been voted to kick. That+ 30 min lockout for disertion.
