So how is this content finder/ cross-server dungeon finder suppose to work?

I find that in v1.0 people had trouble even using the recruiting system.

Being in a linkshell with people who know a little bit more and are willing to organize runs and help is more realiable the this "auto-grouping" system.
Heck, there was an "autogrouping" function in FFxi which I never used. There would be times I would get a /tell about "party, do you need it?" when I clearly have a lv.99 job fwith a comment stating some other content like, "doing trial#".

I think people wont use it simply because what works alright for them shouldv't have to change. I join a linkshell and people chat about things, many things, sometimes things you don't understand but it's better place to say it than after auto-grouping with strangers who would probably get all pissy and moany at you and calling you newbie, don't have time to explain stuff.

More features means more problems, all there's to it.

In wow, you open a menu that allows you to enter a queue based on your level and class role. The system matches you with people around your level who've also entered this queue. Matchmaking groups 1 party of 5 players; 1 tank, 1 healer and 3 dps. You're all sent to an instance, and if you leave the group, you're sent back to where you were before you entered the instance.

But guessing you can play solo and do content like a relic it's like having fear to fly to the moon with a fart

I've played a few mmo's with group finders but I think the one thing I'll be looking forward to with FFXIV is it's Japanese playerbase. I know they're not perfect but just from MY OWN experience they're some of the best and most friendly players I've played a game with. I don't know if they're seperating languages with the content finder but I'd look forward to being grouped with a few of them. Might open up the way to make new friends too.

Cross Realm Zones has destroyed large parts of the gathering game, now the over-competition for resource nodes makes leveling gathering a nightmare.

Please Yoshi, I beg of you, DON'T inflict this community-killer on us.
its just for raids, as far as we know the worlds have not been instanced yet. way back in the day there was an Asshat Ninja's list all those that stole or were General Douchbags were placed on this list and quickly found themselves without party's. the same thing would work here even better because a single Character needs at least 2 classes leveled.

Actually I have an addendum to my last comment, the one bad thing that Group Finder did for WoW was make the world a lot smaller, I hope that doesn't happen with XIV. In WoW you would just sit in the main city all day teleporting to your destinations.. I actually enjoy going places in a large MMO world, we'll see I guess

The group-finder tool is one of my most anticipated features.

-Making groups in 1.0 was a waste of play time
-Spamming chat for more people is annoying and drowns the people around me in a wall of text
-Knocking on people's virtual chat door became a nuisance and hard to manage (who did I already contact...?)
-Old content was virtually impossible to find people for

    Need I go on?

The idea of a group-finder should be that it is not used for all of your content, only things like dungeons, PVP and raids. Let the other content get people out in the world.

The beauty of it as well is you can use it from anywhere, while taking part in that other content. Double edged-sword which needs to be design balanced.

I actually hope there are more ways to reach across to other servers as the game progresses. Since we're all playing the same game and are looking to go into the same dungeons regardless of which server we are on, this would help strengthen the community in my opinion. I have friends on other servers, and what I hate the most is how distant they feel by being in what is essentially a parallel universe that I can't interact with. This would really bring everyone together more, not tear them apart.

I like this idea. Some server communities have completely different views on what they like doing.. one server might enjoy the pvp side of the game more then others and if you on a server they ppl are like "lolPvp" you might not get enjoy it, but being able to choose if you want to play with cross-server ppl you can is a good thing. I know the servers in XI were like that were some did heavy ballista events and other servers didnt even touch it
