Where's the problem with that if the opinions are precisely about the running? I don't read a lot of stuff in here, so I don't know what's kind of threads are being made. But the topics I -did- read were perfectly justified.

We don't know which parts of the game are close to final and which will be reworked in a major way. And for the most part we'll probably only find out at release. So there's no harm in pointing out issues we can observe in the current version. If they are aware of it and already got it covered - great, they can ignore it and no harm is done. Otherwise they know which parts of the game need more work.

thread about the towns not being "lively" enough. in alpha? no kidding.
yoshi even said himself they are planning to work on making the towns look more lively.

these threads are like game reviews being written before the game being played.

not to mention that a lot of things are currently being adjusted and tweaked.

for example take the first video of alpha, the animations are less abrupt than the ones shown there.
no back tracking, etc.

Worse, they're basing it on extremely selective scrutiny of what's going on in those videos. They see one or two things that seem off to them, and they go full-on hysteria mode about how the whole game will be flawed, unless they say something!!!! Because the idea is, apparently, that something they see with their very limited exposure will somehow be overlooked by Yoshi-P and an entire staff of people who spend all day, every day, looking at, testing and working on it; a pretty amazing conceit, if you ask me.

In another recent thread, someone completely ignored Almost 1.5 hours of perfectly smooth gameplay, with heavy character loads on an early Alpha build in the last live letter. Instead, they focused entirely on a brief moment of lag/rubberbanding that happened near the very end of it and posted a thread, making it out to sound like a harbinger of doom.

Like I said before... selective vision/hearing/memory. A lot of people around here seem to suffer from it.

I also get the sense that some people here are carrying on that way for rather self-important reasons. Either they want to credit themselves with "being the reason something was changed", or they want to be able to say "see! I told you so!" if what they're predicting comes to pass. I've seen people single-handedly credit themselves with something being added or changed in a MMO before - so huge are some people's egos, apparently - so I wouldn't put it past others to do the same.

Man that's some epic Hyperbole you got going on there. I don't see many people saying that the game is going to explode without our input.

I do see a few people noting that "For good reason" last time they asked for our input and utterly set it aside for a multitude of reasons some awe inspiring fopahs transpired. The good thing is the developers are being far more transparant than they were with 1.0 but there utter silence on some subjects speaks volumes as to how undecided they are on some things or unwilling to budge on the issue.

Wether or not people are posting because they think they will be E-famous as the guy who made the devs to ____ is up for debate and just a very flimsy reason to attack people who are very critical about the game. One could accuse you of the exact same selective thought processes as well being able to ignore and overlook blatant issues. The developers should be able to filter our criticism without the assistance of people telling people to not give their opinions.
