Is the "hero" party from the cinematic opening?

She is awesome. I love that look of determination after she heals him in EoAE, like "now go kick some Garlean ass!". And it is a nice nod back to the opening video. Very nice touch.

It really excites me to see XIV's cinematics hitting their stride in the story-telling department. I really felt they were lacking that in the original opening movie. It felt very disjointed and I didn't get a sense of what the world was like or what was going on. The video didn't make much sense to me 'til later when I was more familiar with the setting, the Echo and all that.

Up 'til now, FFXI's opening has remained my #1 favorite opening cut-scene for any MMO (single player games I keep in a separate category). With this EoAE video, though... It's really pushing for a tie. It's got that epic feeling that I felt the previous XIV videos were lacking, including their teaser trailers.

Great stuff, and I really like how that particular group of characters is "us". It really does kinda work, to me, as a kind of "surrogate" for having our characters experience it themselves.

Pretty much is. Apparently when he went to the past with the Echo, he found and recruited the other 3 Adventurers except for the female Elezen.

I thought with just the first movie the group was just supposed to be a representation of us players.. but..
after seeing the same group in the end movie, and the footage from the ARR Cutscenes, I think it's highly likely now that something more is going on.. hmmm At this point I hope there is a hidden story in all this, I think it would be really cool.

I remember in XI I had no idea what was going on in the opening movie and it wasn't until years later I learned it was the battle of Tavnazia and Aldo who escapes with his sister. Maybe the same will happen here.

I truly apologize about the wait! I've been keeping a close watch on this thread, as well as the other lore posts that have been popping up around the forums (that one on the psycho-cultural analysis of the Garlean Empire was epic). Now that the End of an Era trailer has been released, I think I can finally get the permission needed to answer some of the questions that you have...or at least confirm some of the theories that you have put together.

I'm currently in the process of preparing a reply, but it will need to be cleared by the other half of the lore team before I can post it. He's currently out of the office, taking a well deserved break, but should be back early next week. Hopefully then I can clear some things up (though, you guys are spot on, or at least very close, on a lot of issues).
