Will the beta playing be saved.

I dont know if this question has been asnwered already or if the answer is obvious but from all the threads ive read i have yet to see a straightforward answer.

If we play in beta, will it be progressive?. or will we just reset to our nov 1st save data again at start of release?

This is a pretty legit question, because this is not a normal beta. Saying they will give us access to our characters, it would make sense to let us keep our progression. Will they do it is a question though.

I would like to see an answer about this from the developers. Don't even have to give a date or a complete yes or no. Would be nice to know however that keeping progression on our characters during beta is what they have in mind or not.

I sincerely doubt that any progress will be saved from beta. Wouldn't make much sense to do so, really.

I hope not. Because I'll play beta to test the game and submit constructive critic reports on what I find sub-awesomeness.
Then, it will be time to enjoy the pure awesomeness. That's what beta is for, not getting a head start by exploiting unpolished mechanics.

For alpha test and the early stage of beta test, the progress data will be wiped. But the progress data of later stages of beta test may be (not 100%) able to bring into release version.

So this is what I guess:
Starting from later stage of beta (say open beta...) maybe we are able to choose to load our "converted" 1.0 characters, or create a new character, then bring the progress into release.

But as official comment says, only new character will be able to choose new server. Your 1.0 character will be locked in the same server for a while.

Its not impossible to carry beta data into final release. The later beta tests for Terra were carried into final release. I think its safe to assume progress will not be saved unless they announce otherwise though.

Yoshi did say in Live letter III that the story missions will be unavailable until launch. I guess that doesn't answer the question, but it suggests some confinement.

But as official comment says, only new character will be able to choose new server. Your 1.0 character will be locked in the same server for a while.

It sounds like they can keep our progress in the beta, but anything can change significantly that may affect something. Like if an item is too powerful they will get rid of it or adjust it's stats. Or they needed to change something in the UI that resets your settings.

So what I see is, "You can progress in beta, but get ready to have something taken away if need be.".

Having our progress saved in beta would certainly make up for the long wait until release.
