Why do we have to dwell on meaningless issues?

Do you want a community where you feel welcome, even embraced? Where people have your back in general and you have theirs? It's not going to happen if we continue in this downward spiral of nitpicking.

We're tearing our community apart by arguing over the most inane crap imaginable. It's not a legal requirement to be contrary about everything while using the internet. If you disagree with someone, think about how important the issue really is, consider letting it slide. Nobody wants to play an MMO full of assholes who object to anything and everything - it's easier to go play a single player game. We all have the potential to not be an asshole. Seize it today. SE is doing their part, so do yours and make ARR a better place.

That doesn't necessarily mean we're going to be an asshole in game and scream in shout about everything we hate.

If we followed your mindset of just letting everything slide then there would be no point in forums, nor would there be any point in devs asking for feedback.

I think debate is fine. I was just talking about nitpicking, people getting riled over tiny issues, and in general people taking debate to a personal level. It's reached a point in these forums where people seem to be looking for a fight and it's hard to say anything without someone throwing in an objection.

And not everything has to be a debate. Debate in most cases seems to devolve into argument. It's really easy to kill an upbeat thread by finding some little thing to nitpick at. Soon half the thread will be full of people flailing at each other.

The thing is... What you define as nitpicking isn't necessarily what everyone defines as nitpicking.

I dislike that there's no turning animations in ARR. If this isn't important to someone they will see it as nitpicking. I see it as a real issue worth debate.

Well, like I said, I have no problem with debate. I also have no problem with whatever opinions you have on ingame issues. I never said otherwise. If that's what you read, you're reading into it too much. So, now that we've established that we have no disagreements there, I just want to ask: why did you make assumptions and nitpick at my posts? The minor issues I was talking about are exactly this kind of thing. I basically was suggesting we should all stop picking at each others words, and immediately you come along and pick at mine, jumping to conclusions. Is it that hard to let me have my opinion?

This is what goes on here on a daily basis. Every time I post I know I'm going to have to chase it up with 3 or 4 more posts of elaboration because somebody minced my words. You don't have to make people feel so uncomfortable in posting, you know.

You can call all attempts at debate 'nitpicking' it depends on how important the issue is to you. If you can't handle people replying with a difference of opinion then a forum isn't the place for you.

What are we debating, exactly? Because I thought you just made two separate and incorrect assumptions about what I was saying. The only message I intended to get across was that I think we should stop mincing each others' words and harassing each other over inane crap. I don't recall actually having a difference of opinion with you.

Well we're currently not debating anything. I'm pointing out the fact that your opinion on what is or isn't nitpicking isn't universal.

All of which is subjective. I found your opinion that it's "Inane crap" disagreeable so I decided to bring it up. This is called debating.
