There is no meaningless time sink except in your opinion.

Again, If everyone could do everything and get everything without having to put any kind of commitment into it then new content would have to be released every few months to give people something to do.

I'm sure SE wants people to play and enjoy their game all the time. Not log on for a week and not come back for a month because everyone else on the server has to catch up.

Would you rather SE not release any new content until everyone on every server has completed every quest and has at least so many jobs at 50?
