New features, yes. Faster development, no. unless they changed something since DirectX 8 which was the last time i actually worked in depth with the API.

Thats why i love OpenGL, its extremely flexible and not much harder to use that DirectX. its too bad DirectX has a Monopoly every where you look.

Referring to faster development of things already added as new features into new DX (a new feature in DX11 you could impalement by yourself - though you'd really need some incredible know how). Why write your own when its already prepared (since you dont have to use Opengl/DX.. just helps a lot).

I love how openGL has had features for years that DX has only picked up recently lol

Shows how powerful a monopoly is XD

Apparently, there was a large API cleanup from DX9 to DX10, at least that's what one of my colleagues said when we last talked about DX vs openGL.

It's really a pity. Have you seen the comparisons between openGL and DX performance done by Valve after they started to port L4D to linux? I'm hoping this will be a beginning to break DX's monopoly in games.

On topic: tessellation is about all I would like to see. Looking at, for example, this, it's about the only difference I see, and it's not even that much.
