    I think the reason i would like the ease of travel as opposed to walking, or boating everywhere is that i tend to play a lot ... and practically live in the game. Doing a lot of events requires anima, and if you have none people seem a little less inclined to wait for you to choco to the location ^^; I also find myself not doing things because i have no anima so i can budget it for doing things later ... i rather have enough to do all the events i want without having to beg others for an anima tele ^^;

I am sure i will explore as much as i can when the game comes out, and learn everything like the back of my hand, and travel the old fashioned way when i have the time ... i just would like the option to go quickly if i want and not feel forced to do everything in exploration mode ... i want to explore when i want, that way it's even better

I am sure i will adjust to whatever method is chosen ... i just hope it's something that doesn't limit people's want/ability to do many events quickly, since scheduling can become an issue ^^
I can understand your point of view completely ; ;. I think I'll end up walking mostly everywhere unless I'm in a rush.

And FFXI's attention to detail and scenery was just absolutely amazing!

I hate those videos, simply because they make me nostalgia HARD over FFXI. I truly hope this game gets that kind of attention to detail.

Not sure about everyone else but if I didn't walk somewhere first I will never have been there. I will hopefully spend a long time 100% unfurling my maps.

I cant remember off the top of my head where but yoshi said somewhere we will still have anima and teleportation, but you have to travel there first before you can tele there. No more having a friend tele you then you get the point from there on out. Youre gonna have to run everywhere on foot atleast once.

When it comes to travel, like aforementioned here, it's about the journey not about getting wherever/whatever needs to be done, done. That's why I thought camping HNM in FFXI was simply amazing. You'd first have to journey with friends to a destination. Then once you get there you're able to spend time with friends, and even enjoy group chats especially if you were lucky enough to have vent or another voice chat source. Off-topic I know but the first time you ran to Jeuno you were probably teamed with another awesome noob and it was a journey just to get there. FFXIV seemed to completely remove the travel/journey aspect of the game and just got you to the next instanced battle as fast as possible. Personally it wasn't very rewarding, especially when the best part of the journey was chasing a dodo halfway across the map.

I think a few player activated spells for teleporting would be cool like in FFXI (and other MMOs) or even a more limited anima system.

But I really want travel to be centered around the world, IE (walking, chocobo, airship, boat, train).

If they place the limited camps and use NPC transportation appropriately the disadvantage in time will be outset by the effect of displacement which (can) create a sense of placement (I know displacement and placement in the same sentence sounds like a paradox but give it a second lol).

Bring back the XI outpost warp system. NPC/crystal that allows you to teleport to a camp, at the cost of gil. Whichever GC is holding that camp gets the warp for free/cheaper. Can only teleport to & from crystals ( like aetherite gate passes ).

As for the comment above, HNM camping was mindlessly boring. "Spending time with friends" sitting in a room filled with other people scratching their privates waiting for a pop, pfft that's not playing a game. You can do that in Ul'dah.. I would agree if you were going to say something like sky/sea NM's or something. That was a lot more fun. Although I guess your point was the journey rather then the destination, which yes I agree - travelling is a big part of it.

    Here's what I like:

I'm also 100% happy the current anima system and it's regeneration rate.

This needs to be a thing again! Sure it can cause some hold-ups if a player in the party doesn't have access to a camp's aetheryte crystal, but a little extra work never hurt anyone. It bugs me a bit that I can take a brand new player and just throw them around the world without them having to do any of the work.

Also, the game needs to alert you if someone doesn't have camp access. Just like it does now with "being out of range" or not having requirement when entering boss fights. In XI it would just be a surprise when the entire party got there and someone was missing. =X

Not just from anywhere on the map any longer. Also, teleporting from crystal to crystal should cost anima and also include your entire party as well. (As it currently does)

An alternate method to using anima for crystal travel. You could have an NPC(warp lala) teleport you from a town to a crystal for gil, as long as you've been to that area before. Or perhaps, if you did a "supply" mission of sorts for this associated group of teleport NPCs to each individual camp.. would that be too cruel?

Oh, and in order to return to a town you would have to either: use anima, return to homepoint, or walk back. This way you can't fully ignore the airship/ferry systems for town to town travel.

However, if nothing changes at all, I'd be totally okay with that. ( ' - ')b

I would enjoy only being able to teleport from crystals. It would make the camps an interesting place to hang out and see all the people going about their business.

    I love exploring.

That's why I don't always use my anima to get places.

When I need to meet up with friends for an event I don't want to be held back from getting there. That's why I don't waste my anima when doing solo activities.

I also like the resource mechanic involved with anima. It's there when you absolutely need it. If you don't need it? Don't use it. Anyone can afford the time to walk from Ul'dah to Black Brush to turn in a crafting leve to be honest.
