He did say something along those lines but Ifrit is quite clearly in that picture in full or lesser form hes still there and if SE had plans for Summoners not be able to summon him they wouldnt have illustrated it. The only way i can see Summoners getting other summons besides lesser versions of primals at this point is if SE link Summoner's limit break with the free company felling primals system. Making ifrit etc more akin to Odin and Alexander in ffxi.

The Free Company Primals and SMNs should be completely unrelated. It would be silly otherwise, because then the SMNs limit break would only be 1 element (whichever is assigned to that server, since there's only 1 wandering Primal per server). And it would be silly to link 2 systems which shouldn't remotely be involved.

What summoners call would be related to the original Primal, but they will be slightly different. Most likely the only change would be size though. In XI the Avatar that was summoned and the one you fought were pretty much the same size. Or perhaps they'll just move different; like Garuda walking on the ground instead of levitating, for example.

Your wrong its one of each primal per server.

    Nope. It's 1 wandering per server. I'd link you to the site where it's stated but it's undergoing maintenance or something, so this is the best I can do for now;

(It was also in a video somewhere, but it's too late for me to be bothered to find)

That interview seems to have already created misinformation regarding the primals 'wandering' the primals are still instanced the entrance is what wanders so i wonder if this is yet again misinterpretation of what yoshida said. Rpgsite has a newer interview that i would link but on my ps vita at the moment.

    edit:

    http://www.rpgsite.net/interviews/39...oper-interview

RPG Site: Primal fights will become roaming in 2.0 for the summoning system; are there any specifics you could go into? Will weapons and things like that still be obtainable, and will there still be instanced fights like which are available in the current version?
Yoshida: Most of the primals will not be “roaming” the public areas, and their battles will still be instanced, though it will be more challenging to discover these instances.
Koji: It looks like there was a little bit of misinformation given at the E3 interview (and this may have been my fault, or it may have been Yoshida-san’s). The implication given was that all the primals would be roaming, and once they were summoned, they would pop somewhere else in the world. This is not the case. While roaming primal are still not out of the question, the summonable deities will be instanced-based, with the primal going back to these instances once they’ve been summoned. However, players will still have to look for these instances once they’ve become available, preventing camping.

edit 2: it took me quite a bit of sifting through pages but here is the interview you and the newer interview were refering to and it quite clearly states one of each.

    http://www.finalfantasy-fxn.net/boar...-Updates/page5

In 2.0 there will only be one of each primal per world. So one Ifrit, maybe one Shiva maybe one Ramuh, per world. These primals will be somewhere in the open world, roaming, and players will need to find them and then get together to defeat the primals.

Really? That doesn't sound right... from what I understand the Primal will be wandering in the open and people team up to subdue it.

In any case, this has gone off on a tangent. In XI anything to do with the Avatars involved summoners, but in this game the Primals have a much larger role in the story. People are going to have to learn that not every primal will become subject of summoning.

When it comes to the debate of instant cast or pets i dont really have a side, but i would not wish for Summoners to only be a damage dealer with some Arcanist enfeebles. To me Summoner is more like the Sage than the Blackmage, high mp cost aoe buffs debuffs damage and healing spells. Wether that is in the form of instant or pet i will give it a go. Though i would be surprised if SE go for a Arcanist pet class Summoner spell job because that would make Summoner the biggest transition from class to job to date.

edit: i edited my previous post with the part of the interview i was talking about and the website the entire interview comes from. Edit2: I found the gamerescape interview of which you mentioned and also put that into my previous post.

i agree with you. and i hope so as well that this wont be the case.

on the other side.. isnt it a fact that carbuncle is exclusive only to arcanist? that'd be also a big transition..hopefully that was a false interpretation also... i HOPE.. i really hope that in the next live-interview there is a question about summoner. seriously.

Thanks for finding these! Ok, I see what you mean about the wandering instances, that makes things a little clearer. But the second interview still sounds ambiguous to me... If it really was one of every Primal in each server, then why does it say "Maybe Shiva, maybe Ramuh".
Does sounds like you were right though, glad they tried to clear that up... I'd've hated being on the only server that had to settle with Ramuh -.-

It's verified that Carby is Arcanist-exclusive; summoners can't use him. Makes me think that it's more likely SMNs will have perma-pets, because losing Carby in exchange for single-shot spells would seem like a bit of a step back (Personally, I wouldn't mind it, but I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority).

Is it new that a job can't use the skills of it's basic class? Never heard about that.
