What are you doing about expanding the online world? I want to be able to hear of a place I've never been to before and actually go on an adventure to find it. After all, our characters are called "adventurers". What will the game do to spark adventure?

A: Ala Mhigo and Ishgard won’t be available at launch. I know that people have been asking to see other new areas, since we’ve only shown Gridania so far, but we’ve completely remade all the maps. In that sense, all areas are completely new.

There are new settlements, monsters, and dungeons—some which are three times the size of current ones. Frankly, when you consider that it’s only been fifteen months since we started writing code and creating assets...if we wanted to include Ishgard and Ala Mhigo at release, it would take another year of work. The development teams wouldn’t like that very much.

Again, allow me to reiterate that all areas have been fundamentally rebuilt and should be considered new. We’d like players to enjoy this content first. We’re thinking of adding Ishgard, Ala Mhigo and other areas with our first expansions, so please look forward to it! In the meantime, I’m certain there will be enough content for players to enjoy.

Not at launch but in the future, will there be an application that controls buying and selling from a retainer and linkshell/player messaging?

While we were creating the server structure for the new client, we made sure the system can have character data pulled from an external source other than the client. What we have in mind right now is an application where players can view their inventory and organize it. Also, an application where players will be able to search the market and purchase items directly.

Eventually, we're aiming for an application where our players will be able to access their housing. Either way, if we're going to do it, I want to make sure it's perfect. However, we hope to be able to share information with you by the six-month mark after the launch of 2.0, depending on progress.

Will we be allowed to change our Name on the start of FFXIV- ARR? Female changes to Male .... we need some kind of name change there... Sally Moon; Male um no thanks.

It's still being worked on by the development team, and nothing has been confirmed yet, but here is the latest update made by Rukkirii a few weeks ago. When we have more details, we'll be sure to share them with you!

As we stated before, existing players will receive a one-time chance to change the appearance, race, and gender of their characters.

As far as the name change goes, we are currently doing everything in our powers to make sure we are able to meet your expectation.

Yes, up to anytime from ARR start to 6 months after.

I suspect that 6 months thing might've been a mistranslation. Yoshida probably meant that this is a one time procedure, that you won't be able to recreate character again later. It wouldn't make sense to put a time limit on it, though, would be unfair to players who would return later.

How the hell is 6 months unfair? seriously that's a shitload of time..
Now to OP: Thank you very much for making this thread i had the same reaction when reading the questions... i am confident the reps know very well what to pick and pass onto Yoshi-P if i had the power i would nuke the spammers lol SE should just allow 1 question per person...and then there are the always complaining hatin bunch which questions sound more like direct attacks to SE lol
