I remember Yoshi-P stating he wanted to have random world events in ARR, kind of like in GW2. It could be this Adamantoise is part of that. I can't read Japanese so I can't tell from the text in the screenshot whether it's a regular quest or a specific event duty they're under to kill it.

I was happy to see the Iron Giant and have been waiting to see an iteration of it since seeing the concept art for it. Other things that people pointed out, such as fighting from different elevations and the water spell were good catches too.

Also, Rokien is getting all the attention he's asking for. He knows full well he's going to be bashed, but he keeps doing it. I don't think he feels all that hurt by it, considering he's reaching meme status. And how do you think SE would feel if they took all of his posts to heart? Pretty damn insulted.

By the way, really!? 30m on Protect? I thought they took out spell timers, but I could be wrong.

I'm noticing a lot of monster designs are derived from XI. While I'm fine with this, given a lot of the time/energy/money is currently being spent making sure the game works and is fun, I hope in the future we'll see more original stuff. If they have to bring any other monster designs from XI, though, I really like the bouncy leeches. :3

It could be the moon-status, moved there with the UI Customization.
