pics are pretty sweet, the turtle got me smiling big time. also the other big boy in the pics. really can't wait to see 2.0 launching. glad they can handle big number of peoples together ...gives me huge hope for large scale content in the future.

I don't see any issues with "clipping" in that photo. It's hard enough to know who's in front of who.
They all had a very similar appearance in some way much like Iron Giants all had a similar appearance in some fashion..hell XI's Iron Giants were actually a bit more unique.
While Similar to the classic style, there's a spin on the design:
Which more or less is the typical design. So while it is an XI import, this is just one of the later iterations of the Adamantoise for now. The XIII ones were probably way too fucking big lol.

The FFXIV Iron Giant is definitely a fresh design - it's based on the iconic look, but with an Eorzean twist.
The Adamantoise is a sadly just the FFXI version - but with better textures and more geometry. (perhaps they did this to save time because they already had skinning and motion data, not to mention AI scripting that was all fully tested and could be reused)

Well it's... iconic atleast.(I'm asuming you are responding to my Adamantoise post)

They did say they were pulling bits and peices from all the different FF games. XI's biggest contribution in this game seems to be aesthetics.(I'm asuming you are responding to my Adamantoise post)

It's not the first XI copied monster in the game, probably won't be the last.(I'm asuming you are responding to my Adamantoise post)

I personally really like the adamantoise model.
Yeah, but like even the imports on other XI models, they react a bit differently so there's a chance that while it is using the XI model, it may be totally different behavior/sound/attack etc wise to fit into XIV better. It also could be that since it's alpha they didn't fully complete the models but like in Abyssea, the boss versions had different designs from the typical one (Lacovie etc.)
This is why the mandragoras are basically the same but the petal is what's different so I don't mind the straight import since they do more than just copy/paste it like some other MMOs that won't be named have done with FFXI models lol.

I think this was the general intention from the start, if you look at the limit break trailer, the yellow dragon is just modernised from FF4 (Correct me if I'm wrong though, it might've appeared much earlier than 4), but I'm kind of looking forward to seeing monsters like this from the older games in the series.Yeah, but like even the imports on other XI models, they react a bit differently so there's a chance that while it is using the XI model, it may be totally different behavior/sound/attack etc wise to fit into XIV better. I'm also only posting this to leave a book mark since I'm going out now too lol ^^

Nice catch! It appears in FFI and FFIII as well, but the FFXIV design is most similar to FFIV.
