    Don't get me wrong, the FFXI design was a very good one. If they have to reuse one, I guess I'd prefer it was that one. rather than the FFXIII version*shudder* )

    TBH, this isn't the first time SE has reused mob design or geometry. FFXII mandys were essentially the exact same as FFXI. (and I liked the fact that they did that). But FFXI also had some nifty variations with the Wild Onion, Pumpkin Head, Rogue Tomato, Alrune, etc.

    Perhaps they will do the same with Adamantoise in ARR.

    That little issue aside, ARR looks awesome - esp the Iron Giant! I can't wait to play it.
    I think it might be because of the whole "bring in lots of past FF's", we've seen this with the NPC concept that was shown, the iron giant is also very identical and now the turtle is, familiarity!

    Haha, I was thinking of goblins as an example. You're probably right that using old models and ideas is a way to save time/money and still give us content.

    It's to be expected too..XI and XIV are the only MMO FF games, and like all FF games it's pretty typical to see them share designs. I mean XI's Soulflayers were basically FFIVs iirc but with an actual story attached to em.

    I think this was the general intention from the start, if you look at the limit break trailer, the yellow dragon is just modernised from FF4 (Correct me if I'm wrong though, it might've appeared much earlier than 4), but I'm kind of looking forward to seeing monsters like this from the older games in the series.

    Nice catch! I thought that thing looked familiar lol

    It appears in FFI and FFIII as well, but the FFXIV design is most similar to FFIV.

    Yep, much like Shinryu in XI was..well, yeah that's obvious. While we're on that subject...

    SE: Do not bring in Shinryu unless it's a super boss or end-boss like you did in XI Since right now it seems like things are going to be fairly low level boss(?) content just with an iconic design. Like for example we all remember getting rocked by an adamantoise or two in our FF playtime, so maybe it's just alpha testing and not placed properly yet, but definitely don't want to see Shinryu demoted D:

    I would of thought Adamantoise would of been more fitting in the La Noscea region, but hey, turtles can be in forests also. >_>
