Q3/Q4 should settle the dispute about leveling. Anyone wanting it to be slower is in the minority.
Standing around Jeuno for hours and hours, either LFG or LFP, is not my idea of gaming. Good riddance to FFXI's design.
That's because the majority of people don't thinkhttp://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post704508

Slower leveling implies even pacing and content; A more natural and memorable sense of progression with numerous milestones that keeps players interested. End game does not have to, nor should be the point where the game begins. If that were the case, why bother with leveling at all? When people saw that question, the majority thought "Slower leveling? More grind before I get to the content? That sucks!", when that 'grind' should be where a large majority of the content is located.
Don't worry Jocko, when people blow through all of ARR's content and begging SE to provide more content and they can't, they'll finally realize it's not about wanting "more grind" it's about pacing, something all new MMOs do horribly wrong in one way or another.
This is Rokiens thread? Someone surly hacked his account and posted this.....j/k. For once Rokien I couldnt agree with you more. Ive tried a number of other MMOs and they just dont seem to have what it takes to keep you interested. XI kept me interested. Not just the quantity of content but the quality. Sure it sucked waiting for hours or sometimes all day for a party. But I went out and did other stuff with my flag up. Farming, questing, missions. Hell of it is, I liked it!! Even kinda loved it! Yeah it sucked you got exp loss dying, sure you had no clue who offered what quests or even new quests that came up once you got a higher rep. You had to explore, talk to NPCs...adventure to find out what was in the world you played in and were a part of. It was fuggin great!!
As some stated, don't keep rehashing old material with new titles. Keep old concepts and framework but add new twists, put something that makes the MMO different, more challenging, more of an adventure rather than as it was said a time sink that you just follow the yellow brick road to the end.
I though it was really awesome in AION you could fly and even fight while flying. I thought in RIFT it was pretty interesting that rifts opened up and you had a time limit to defeat each wave of the rift. I though it was cool in GW that at a certain point the world changed and you couldnt go back to the way it was prior to the event. As with these and other MMOs it seems theres a few things that make then different, but overall they all have "!" or "?" above NPCs heads, you level fairly quick and theres not a lot of different stuff to keep you around. Bring back the old MMOs but give em better graphics and new aspects to make then new and different, but keep them challenging, make them something you become immersed in, not just do it to get to the capped level and run the same stuff over and over.
I know theres arguments that could be made against what I just stated, but overall you all know the point thats being made here not just with my post but with others. Excellent point made with this thread Rokien!
Including XI.
More heroic than killing bunnies for 1 hour by yourself achieving the same thing
This minority is probably the majority of the core players that won't leave the game after 2 months of playing. Its good that SE listens to the majority, but it won't help them if that majority leaves them to play MMO-SP-RPG #24324225421356 after some weeks ^^http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post704508

So true. The latest example for me, I bought GW2 hoping it would tide me over for most of the downtime on FF and I've already hit cap...no power leveling or exploitation - did it through regular story progression, exploring and dungeons. I love the game and don't expect to give up on it any time soon but wow I was hoping for a little bit more main course before I got to my desert.
