Good effort BG.
We've been doing him for a couple of days now.
I've watched your vids BG and theres one thing i dun understand...
Is there something you do to stop him from porting all the time in Phase 1?
Cause in the vid he barely ever ports...
When we do him he literally (no joke) ports around 15+ times!
He ports then right after he is done with his beam he ports again midways while running back to the tank.
We can't DPS him down fast enough cause he is never there to get the damage.
Can't DPS something that don't exist...
^ Ya What he said >.<

There's no real secret to what we're doing. We're just DPSing him as hard as we can. Sometimes he ports a lot; sometimes he doesn't. Sometimes he spams Plasma Acoustics; sometimes he doesn't. If your DPS are pushing as much as possible, it shouldn't matter how often he's porting if you're going for your first kill. What's more significant in terms of getting the win is to maintain focus so that the DRGs never lose Power Surge and no one dies. On top of that, every single Lunar Dynamo that lands can add 15-30 seconds to the fight, and each Plasma Acoustics can add 10 seconds up to a full minute or more, depending on fast your WHM(s)/MNK(s) are at ripping the defense-up buff. We've been doing him for a couple of days now.

Just for frame of reference, our DRGs are peaking somewhere around 90-100 DPS at the end of phase 1 (before he goes up for his second Megaflare). Our group for this is pretty well-geared, but even just a consistent 50-60 DPS on each DRG should net you the kill. Make sure everyone has enough accuracy (~450 for physical, ~515+ for magical).

Well our DRGs aren't dying during first phase.. they go all out and they're good ones too. There's no real secret to what we're doing. We're just DPSing him as hard as possible. I (tank) usually avoid the beam after porting and let him run back to the spot i tank him (back against the wall behind where he stands when we pop in) but he just screws us up by porting non stop in phase one.
3 ports back to back is a long time for me (tank) to not pop any abillities or weapon skills thus loosing precious hate to the vicious Dragoons
...
He "seems" to port a lot more that 70-60% phase right before he first calls down meteors. High dps does seem to hold him still at times, but then you get the random port spam no matter what you do.Well our DRGs aren't dying during first phase.. they go all out and they're good ones too.

BG is doing some crazy dps so they kinda blow through that port phase..
No one focus's on DPS quite like BG that I can attest to 1st hand. Listen to the video's and hear the number keys getting hammered away shaving thousands of a second on cooldowns. When the whole party has this mentality it all adds up quickly, what BG gives up in survivability on many different encounters they make up for in pure DPS overpowering many situations. This strategy was used for Garuda skipping to clones for the world first kill and again here in P2 skipping the entire Golom phase by going from P2-100% to below 60% before his first port. There is simply no down time ever.
Run a parser its very hard to tell if someone is good or not till you see #'sthey go all out and they're good ones too.

Like Meat said, it feels like he teleports alot more in that first 40ish percent of his hp. If you are timing out though it shouldn't be because of this. You SHOULD only be losing 2-3 seconds of damage per person for every teleport he does if that. If you are having trouble getting him down past this phase quickly then that means you aren't getting into position fast enough to continue damage after he teleports. If you are quick you can get full combos off. You should basically be shooting at already being behind him and 1-2 weaponskills into a combo before he uses whatever ability he teleported away to use. We've been doing him for a couple of days now.

Don't forget that for the mele once he ports right behind him is the safe spot, so you can be dps'ing pretty fast right after he ports. (Most of us just assume everyone knows this from the easy mode)
As a mage I will run behind him as well if he is port spamming and pop 2nd wind and can usually get off a thunder -> thundara before he ports again. If he stays I can queue up a thundaga and "most of the time" 2nd wind will eat the chariot.
