That's correct; everyone needs to have completed the "Living on a Prayer" prerequisite and either be on the Rivenroad (Hard) quest or have already completed it.
As Meatdawg mentioned earlier in the thread, some groups prefer to reorient Nael to the center as much as possible; we place the onus on the backline to reposition themselves with each teleport -- and either way, everyone needs to be paying attention to their relative distance and position to not get hit by Lunar Dynamo, Iron Chariot, Thermionic Beam/Burst, etc., unnecessarily.Well my only 50's are PLD and WAR, and my PLD gear ain't so hot but I've been trying to improve it where I can (starting with raising my HP - still no luck with finding a 2x Tier IV melded Kite Shield damn it)
So can anyone who's beaten this lay out what specifically is different? I watched the video linked in the FFXIVPads guide, and it looked like you guys were just all over the place with regards to tanking him - where as in the regular fight you generally keep him near the 1 post by the stairs.
My biggest concern has (and continues to be) making sure Lunar Dynamo doesn't hit and drain a tonne of HP back for him (while seriously hurting us).

having your tank drag darnus to the center is safer and makes it easier on backline, but costs your melee precious dps as they wait for positioning to stabilize to resume directional combos. if you're going for a first win, 'safer' is probably better. if you're going for speed, backline will have to be the ones to adjust to darnus.
OP, this is a really cool idea. What would be even better is if you presented this challenge, and asked that participants only wear AF gear and non relic weapons. That way, it would actually be a battle of who is best, not who has the best gear. You could open this challenge to virtually everyone that is still playing.
Thanks, take care.
What about the people without AF gear? Better change that too. This way, virtually anyone can compete in this challenge.OP, this is a really cool idea. With barely a week left I couldn't care less about speed, I just want a win - badly.having your tank drag darnus to the center is safer and makes it easier on backline, but costs your melee precious dps as they wait for positioning to stabilize to resume directional combos. if you're going for a first win, 'safer' is probably better. if you're going for speed, backline will have to be the ones to adjust to darnus.
Don't suppose anyone else here who's won already is on Ragnarok?

Let's do it naked!
