Will the grand finale be carried out as a live event?

It's just a matter of days now, Final Fantasy XIV version 1 is coming to an end.

We know something big will happen in-game sometime before the servers are brought down. But so far there's absolutely no info on how we'll get to experience this finale. It seems to me like they'll probably do it as a live event with GM characters in-game and stuff happening at very specific locations.

This could be a big problem for several reasons:
• Assuming the live event starts 3-4 hours before the intended server shutdown time, it's going to be a hassle for players that are in an inconvenient time zone (I'd have to wake up SUPER-EARLY).
• If the live event unfolds at a specific location, I can imagine HUNDREDS of players gathering there to witness the grand finale. I missed a lot of live events, but I know I wouldn't miss the very last one, and I'm sure others feel the same. Too many players in one area = CRASH.
• A lot of people will want to connect at the same time just for the event. This could mean waiting queues or login timeouts

Do we really want to (half-)experience the grand finale through crashy zones, login queues and sleepless nights? Is that really how you're going to send the current version off?

Please tell me ahead of time if I need to prepare psychologically for a frustrating experience.

I'm not sure I want to have to watch someone else's recording on YouTube because server stability, server capacity or real world schedule are keeping me from experiencing it myself.

I thought the servers were up till the 11'th but with no saving, if they plan to do something nuts it will be then.

Yeh...I have pretty much 0 interest in it. Too much lack of info/updates for me to really care ._.

So you don't think that anything will happen after November 1st? What exactly would the reasoning behind having the servers open for a further ten days after the final save (only to be taken down, and then put back up for those that want them) be minus being able to carry out their final event before shut-down, without people being able to complain that they can't progress as the event is stopping them - it allows them to do whatever they want, even if completely game breaking in normal terms, as none of it matters minus the event itself.

Heck, we could all end up becoming Demi-Gods for a while, cleaving through legions of Imperials while nigh on invulnerable - the cities could be swarmed with troops, standard NPCs dead, anything that wouldn't normally be possible when things mattered to players.

You wont be worrying about levelling, gearing or anything else, just whatever they have in store. While the event may seem 'tame' at the moment, you have to realise that they have made it possible to keep playing with a minimum of fuss for everyone - they even removed Atomos from low level zones as he was causing issues for players - which we had an entire complaint thread about in here, but without these restrictions, they are effectively free to do whatever they want.

Honestly, at the moment the Imperials are causing me problems when trying to level Thaumatarge but I can accept it as everything is coming to an end within a few weeks, however, if I wasn't trying to play normally, I'd be murdering all those Imperial troops for setting foot on Eorzean soil.

I am not sure about others but I can't really get into a game/event when knowing the progress is not saved >.< Well..at least not in a MMO. So after November 1st, if they do something that is cool and all..but I probably won't participate..not only don't have the time but if its not saved there is just no motive for me.

It's a "end of the world" event all you will probably do is "trying to kill off stuff" but fail in the end and Dalamud kills us all. I don't think this event has any "gear related" meaning to it or anything that would require a save. It's suppose to be an "eye-candy" event. nothing more nothing less.

Right, I'm expecting whatever happens won't have any rewards tied to it, should be purely story-related and eyecandy
