I honestly don't think market-bias would be a bad thing. For the vast majority of players, they're not going to care about the signature on their gear. People have to check you in order to see them, and it's such a minor little thing. That said, this DOES mean that someone can attempt to use whatever fame they've acquired in game to market their goods, and this is arguably a good thing. It adds a new social dynamic to selling your products. Also, on the flipside it gives players an incentive to not buy from players who are infamous, which means another little reason not to be a dick.

Meh - I dont play games for their intricate market. Not quite an exciting idea to me (i like to get in and out). I'd rather keep it simple and let me sell when I want without worrying that MrTaruPopper isnt going to out sell me unless I undercut his shit specifically.

I can see the idea you are going for - stops asshats and known botters/RMT.

But I think it would be more of annoyance as people seldom accurately describe an ass, botter, or rmt. "He fished for an hour - must be a botter" -_-, "They didnt give me the item I wanted in Raid - LS boycott this guys product", "They dont speak english and play a lot - must be RMT".

Part of the reason a system like this works is because you're actually in the majority. Most of the people feel the way you do, and would be content to simply buy whatever's cheapest. For the most part, a system like this wouldn't alter your ability to buy/sell goods any more than how people sometimes buy from their friends instead of the wards. In either case, it's a small market who cares where their goods come from, but an enterprising marketer could use this to their advantage to sell at a mark up.

I still dont think it would be beneficial over all - but having never tried it I can't definitively say how players would react (only can imagine).

Perhaps if they let us fiddle with different systems in alpha/beta. Until I can test it I'll have to stay biased against (as my gut says it wont be fun to watch someone sell better just because they "branded" better).

While branding is a real life reality I dont want to deal with that kind of depth when it comes to marketing in game lol. A feature one too many if you will, though I know some people love playing marketing.. Perhaps I'm the minority.

its not branding, its fame. i don't have lalafells turning out Blades and Armor with my name attached to it.

if i busted my ass getting the mats and making the Excalibur with next to impossible chances then hell yes i want my name associated with it. you shouldn't have the right to erase that.

people fear that all weapons will be signed, and while some people may do this i can guarantee you not everyone will. your fears are identical to mine regarding space bar jumping, there are going to be people who randomly stand in one spot and press it all day just like there are people who are going to sign every thing they possibly can.

I say branding as people with more popular names or some other connection that may not of otherwise existed, like not knowing the creator of the item, now exists with signed items.

People if given two same priced items will pick the better - in this case the difference would be a name.

And making Excalibur would be pretty badass- but dont you think a gatherer busted their ass gathering those mats? I find a forced signed system a little selfish - however being a bonus ignore-able feature I think is cool. Besides most items are shitty SB or double melds (and even sometimes the melds were done by someone else).

If you already had bought something that was signed by a dick and wanted to re-sell it on, it would still have a dick on it and people may then think your retainer was a dick retainer and not buy your other items either. Except soon enough players would realise (through their own experience) that just because something was signed by a dick, didn't mean it was being sold by a dick, so wouldn't care about the signature and it wouldn't affect the market for the item.

I'm pro-signature on HQ still though.
