I like my npcs to have a voice. Instead of mute and blocks of text. I would really like more voice acting in FFXIV . I really liked that english voice of the thm taru .
well voice acting does not make a game better anytime ;XD

i myself like it, that you sometimes have text dialogues like in old FF's (which have been the best btw) well at least in ARR regular quests are visualized in "Bubbles" not in a block of quest text window like in WoW or whatever. that made it always different (for me).

There has got to be a massive amount of final fantasy fans not playing the game due to its current state.

ARR is a chance to win these people back, I guess converting people from other MMOs would be tough and is where the initial development team went wrong. (Jack of all trades a master of none). Also from my brief time playing GW2, there is alot of "WOW has this .... Diablo has this... " I do not believe that you could ever make these particular people happy.

I guess any improvements need to appeal to existing final fantasy fans first. If they like what you have to offer, it will make it an easier sell to get friends/ family to try it out as well. It's about going back to your roots, your fanbase and getting them on board first and foremost.

Yes, because while FFXIII was very problematic, it wasn't completely awful, like FFVIII was.

The Wizardry franchise would like a word with you. Also plenty of RPGs think of gameplay first story later. Hell, a bunch of FFs do this.

SMT started in like 92, lol. The motherseries started sometime in the 80s.

You play an ff mmo for the Story , immersion and Graphics. (most certainly not for its terrible gameplay, mechanics and boring fights)

Voice acting improves story and immersion. That imperial guy would be more epic if he had a badass voice. I would feel for more characters if i could hear there voice . You also get more understand of emotions they are trying to convey. The world feels alot more alive and less like a game if people are talking instead of blocks of text.

Pirates of limsa are freaking annoying with all their on purpose spelling mistakes. Seriously a real life pirate would write proper sentences they wouldn't write their accent into their text.

I also dislike the mouth flapping with no sound coming out. Looks really dumb.

Though many people can live without this its a big negative for me .

I hate Limsa for that reason alone. I know some people are pirate fans but my god I refuse to read anything that comes out of their mouth - I read the quest summary instead or use the map.

Both are pretty awful games. At the very least VIII had a decent soundtrack.

As did XIII and XIII-2. VIII had only a few tracks that was even worth listening to and you rarely hear them.

Is there any room for the argument that I'd rather not know every single thing in advance? I mean, I haven't been playing XIV since launch, so I don't feel this heavy betrayal that a lot of folks do about 1.x though I guess I can kinda understand it.

Not to get all crotchety and back in my day... about it but.........
Maybe this has changed with MMOs, but it used to be that we got excited about figuring games out while we were playing them. Now it's like no one wants to try a piece of content unless there are multiple published strategies for it, and the leet players bounce after 2 deaths because they don't want the stink of noob on them.

IDK, I guess I'd rather feel like a new player than a hateful jaded one who probably should have quit XIV a long time ago rather than waited around until ARR and demand everything but a free lunch from SE.

    Probably a different argument.

    I'd rather not know.

    +1

    We're on the same page.

I don't even like watching the strategy videos that everyone insists on watching before they ever even attempt new content...
