I remember when Alpha was the end of september - early october and beta would be after the servers goes offline. They can't even tell us why the hell there are level 70 cactuars running around all over the place. SE is just terrible with information its as simple as that. Remember that materia conversion chart that was in the actual website itself for god knows how long before someone stumbled across it? It wasn't officially announced and I am pretty sure it still isn't even linked on the main page under materia even though weve known about it for a year.
It is just a wait and see kind of thing, just like it always is and always will be with SE. I mean, they said the alpha will be starting towards the end of October
Well... 2 weeks ago SE was hoping to get Alpha up and running before Haloweeen..... I hope so.
It is clear that bringing up the new servers with the test game is causing problems. The test game is nothing new. Just a place holder on the server. Sooooo.... the problem is with the servers themselves.
Regardless, everything stops on November 1 and comes down November 11.
Beta can't even start until Alpha has concluded successfully. Sooooo... expect Beta to start before Christmas.... assuming there is not a serious flaw in the servers. Remember these servers are expected to run the Next Gen version when it comes out. These new servers are highly experimental.
OK... So Beta is going to take 2-3 months, conservatively. This means A Realm Reborn may not get underway until next summer. Alas Alack... but this is reality...
It's an environmental thing. If you're around pirates all the time, you're going to pick up on their mannerisms eventually. It's like living in different regions of the United States. I grew up in Arkansas, and you'd hear "ya'll" a lot. I've lived in Arizona for 12 years now and I've adapted to "you all" or "you guys", not so much because it's proper, but because it's what everyone else says and you pick up on it.
I took a trip back to Arkansas a few years back to catch up with some friends and listened to their accent and the way they talk and I thought to myself "This is how I used to talk?!". I even caught myself saying "ya'll" a couple times, just because I was back in my original setting and it felt natural.
Now that that's out of the way, I will agree, reading the pirate talk was REALLY annoying. Without voice acting though, there's no way SE could better convey how they imagined those NPCs would speak. It's easy to say you could leave it to the reader's imagination, but they wanted you to know how THEY wanted it to sound.
They did such a good job I dont read it lol.

And the flood did not happen unless they consider recaps new information.
Now the pirate talk It's hard to read it that way throughout 2 Paragraphs! :P. Its like every other word has a Err matey feeling to it. Its nice.. but they kinda overdid it with the whole pirate talk thing.. I usually just spam enter because reading it gives me a major headache! D:
