Honestly, dude? The whole relic quest is garbage to begin with. But I don't think they had much choice. We wanted content (justifiably so) while they completed 2.0. Realistically this content couldn't be too in-depth due to resources. It also needed to fill a void while they finished ARR. The result? A craptastic grindfest designed to burn time and keep people occupied. Seriously, take a look at the quest itself.

1a. Obtain 25k marks for key item
1b. Obtain 3 seals from each hamlet
-low drop rate, divided by 8 potential players, multiplied by 3
1c. Double-meld
-low success rate for meld
-moderate success rate for actual base weapon
-heavy time investment for mats or heavy gil investment

And that's just the first leg and I'm being really conservative. Is this good content? Not by a longshot. This is horrid, to be honest. What I'm saying is that this wasn't meant for heavy use people - it was meant to keep people busy and distracted. And it's crap.
